Volume control problem
You have to pull the radio out of the car, remove the front plate from the radio (screws on the side of the face plate) and remove it's front board (ribbon wires will unplug to remove them), and you will be staring at two potmeters on the board (volume pot is labeled 15452).
Note, the volume potmeter is attached to the front plate via a small board of it own (Board labeled gmx245, A2C53091187, but going to be hard to find the pot and board as a replacement unit alone.
The easier of the two is just to de-solder the volume/on-off potmeters and solder a new replacement on in (mouser electronics has them for a few dollars each).
But if it's dark thirty on a sunday night, and figure what the hell since you don't want to wait for the new pots, then you can pull the potmeters part to fix it isntead.
Once in hand and un-soldered from the board, unbend the bottom clips, and you will have the shaft section in one hand, and the bottom housing piece in the other. On the very bottom of the lower housing part, there is two wire clips, that a rubber cup type piece with center metal section pushes in via the shaft section to turn the radio on and on.
On the shaft section, there is a star type wheel on the shaft section and it clicks against tabs on the lower housing. This is where the problem in, hence the lower rubber plunger is starting to fall apart, and parts of it's rubber that fell off from the lower plunger is blocking the star wheel contacts from making contacts with the terminal prongs.
Depending on how bad the bottom section plunger cup piece is falling apart (now much spring you still have left with the shaft pushing it self back out), you can either clean and reuse it, or just replace it isntead (key board key type plungers work if you find you just happen to have the right size one handy).
Once you are done, put the potmeter back together, bend the bottom tabs back over, and re-solder it back to the board, and put the radio back together, and back in the car.

you will need to take the front plate of the radio apart as mentioned above. Mine specifically was the navigation unit radio! Its a bit of a process and a very delicate job so please be careful to not pull hard on anything, if it sounds like too much of a hassle to do but you really want to get it done I can try to guide you! It does involve DE-soldering AND soldering. If not, mailing it to me is also an option I can fix it as well! I hope this thread helps someone else!
