Or whatever they're called.......
I'd like to get one so I can read my own codes.
I thought that I had mine corrected when I put a new gas cap on. The engine light went off as soon as I stuck it on. So I got my 05 out and drove it yesterday and now the engine light is back on again.
All levels are good. The gasoline in it is a year old. ( with no stabilizer) So that could be it. I called the local dealer and I can't get in before next week.
I don't think it's going to do a any good to go to AutoZone because if it needs a part, I probably can't put it on anyway.
But I would like to have my own code reader. Any suggestions on which I should buy? How much are they? Which one would be a good one to have?
I'm still planning on going to AutoZone later to see if they can find the problem.
But which reader would you guys suggest that I get?
If you are not doing your own repairs and just want a scanner that will read codes and reset the CEL pretty much any basic one will do the job. Actron makes a pocket scanner that is pretty cheap to purchase, there are also apps for a smartphone but I have never used one.
Harbor Freight offers several OBD readers that can satisfy whatever you need & are willing to pay. They range in price from $50 to $140....the more expensive units obviously have more features....http://www.harborfreight.com/catalog...t?q=OBD+reader
