There is a solar sensor (the little button on top of your dash) that helps regulate the temp inside the car. When in "AUTO" it will switch "Recirculation Mode" on/off as needed.

Update: A/C now working fine. Although they claim they could not find a leak, the system needed a charge. Invoice also reads they added dye to check for leaks. None found.
As far as the rocking seat: all seat bolts had to be tighten to specs.
On the ride home, A/C working as it should and no seat rocking.

I thought they were going to tell me the sensor was bad. What was happening in my case was because the air blowing out wasn't cold enough to get the interior down to the set temperature, the system was working harder and the Recirculation Mode constantly stayed on.
I'm just glad it was a simple fix.
By the way, is that the same sensor that automatically turns the headlights on when it gets dark?
