Automatic launch control question
As far as flashing the converter, that's basically when you turn off Traction Control or put it into Competitive Driving Mode, hold the brake with the vehicle in drive/sport/paddle mode/whatever you want, give it some gas to bring the RPMs up to 1500-2000, and let off the brake while rolling quickly into the throttle. Don't just completely floor it as you will overwhelm the tires.
Preloading the car really won't help you too much on a stock converter - especially if you're spinning already. Honestly, I wouldn't even bother turning off TC/AH until you learn the limits of what the car can handle and find out all the little nuances that it has. Once you've adapted to driving a Vette, I would recommend a tire upgrade and a good dyno/street tune by a reputable tuning company. After all that, you can start to play around with the traction systems - although there's not much to gain by turning them off, and a whole lot to lose if you're not prepared to immediately correct any drama that happens due to losing the rear end.
In comp mode the car is still capable of helping you if you get too far off track, but you will still put the car backwards if you don't have practice countersteering quickly as soon as you go into a slide. With the TC system all the way on, I have TRIED to force the car to lose it, and it won't. The system is nowhere nearly as sophisticated as the one in the C7, but it works and it will save you from putting your car in a ditch. It'll jerk you pretty violently when it kicks in, but it's a lot better than wrecking or hurting someone.
I'm not trying to tell you not to misbehave in your car; I do it at least 10 times a day. I'm just telling you that you'll be better off learning the car's limits slowly.
Good luck

Why would you expect that by turning off traction control you would somehow reduce wheel spin?
