My question is how do I get it to work. I have hit the button twice to get her into competitive diving mode, put her in drive, stood on the break then tried to floor the gas but she just breaks loose. When I tried it in nutral it will only rev to 4000rpm which tells me it does work. FYI I have a base model 2011 with 3lt

???? You do not have launch control. Why do you think you do? No C6 has this option. The motor only lets you rev to 4000 rpm in neutral to save itself from people who don't know better.

You don't know what your talking about. All Corvettes starting in 2010 with manual transmissions had launch control.
The op says when he floors the gas pedal the car breaks loose, and he does not talk about clutching in, just the brake and the gas, to me it sounds like he has a A6. If that is the case op, automatics have no launch control.
he does have a A6 , unless you manual guys have a new gear called drive
Real mean do not read directions
What he does have is active handling/traction control. When pushes the button on the console, he is turning it off. Traction control (what it is called on the manual) or launch control, seem like pretty similar phrases to me.

I just re-read the manual and it says it is only available for manual vets not my automatic. Now my question is what does competitive driving mode do on an automatic if it does not have launch control mode. I am looking for the best way to launch without spinning the tires. So far that is all it does. Fun but won't win any races that way

They are not similar, entirely different operations. Launch control does not turn off traction control, quite the opposite, it modulates it so that it gets the most torque to the rear wheels while keeping wheel spin under control. .
what the crap are you guys talking about? The OP is talking about Launch Control.
OP, You do not have launch control. Only manual C6's 2010+ had it. Actually I only though it was Z06 and ZR1 thing but not sure. Anyhow, no automatic C6's have launch control.
4000 rpm rev limiter in neutral is just that, a rev limiter, not launch control.

On a normal mode all nannies are in full. TC and AH. In a competition mode they are still on but less intrusive, they allow more torque, less traction control and active handling.

What do you guys recommend for the best launch so im not spinning the tires as much. It is a base model with an automatic. So far every time I floor it no matter what mode I'm in (competitive driving mode or active handling on or off), sitting still or rolling at 20 mph, she breaks loose and several times she hits redline and goes into safe mode. Got a guy at work with a new scat pack challenger running his mouth since I bought the vet two weeks ago.
Traction is your friend , not sure what tires you are running but lower the air pressure to 28 , I have Michelin pilot super sports and they are sticky when hot and at this pressure
Then don't mash the pedal to the floor , just walk the pedal down and the car will not spin the tires so much .
I can blaze my tires at will but that is no good and just tears up expensive tires but if I walk the pedal down to the floorboard she hooks up pretty good, it still will spin them pretty hard shifting into 2nd but there is nothing I can do about that except hang on and steer it

You could start by not just mashing it. Control the throttle with your foot and get a feel for the car. It's not a GTR you can't just point and shoot.
My C5 Zo6 had no traction at all. It had the Goodyear tires. I switched to Hankook Ventus V12's and what a difference. You could still break them loose, but it was so much better. I wanted to buy the Michelin's but they were on national back order at the time. I believe they would have been even better than the Hankooks.
Haven't seen a thread go this sideways so fast with all the misinformation To the OP, like others have said walk it out from a dead stop, leave the traction control button alone… If your running stock Goodyear tires that is your biggest problem with traction.
