I was just out there a couple of weeks ago with my grandson, we did the Museum and the Plant tours. We saw major construction over in the plant area, I thought they said they were building new paint facilities...plenty of $$$ being poured into that area.

Just found this link-

From what I have heard is that their goal is to improve the paint jobs and make it comparable to the Lexus paint jobs. Hopefully that is true.

The new paint facility will be for the new GS only. For discerning buyers!

A few months ago, I seem to remember Tag talking about the new paint facility when he was asked about the orange-peel paint that some Corvettes have. I didn't realize it was coming this soon though.

My wife and I are planning to take a trip to the museum and assembly plant in a month or two.

Hopefully setting up tooling for round tail lights instead of raiding the Camaro parts bin again.

Some GS, but not all. Facility won't be finished until NEXT March. GS begins sooner.

You think the EPA is actually going to let them install a new paint shop?? Wonder how much of that $439 Mil is going toward regulations.

I was also there about three weeks ago and took the tour. The guide mentioned that the improvements are worth about 500K and a large part of it is for a new paint facility. There was no mention of any new models but there is some speculation that the C8 may come out in 2017 and there is a possible mid-engined car in the works.

With the success of the Ford GT at LeMans GM is going to have to build a car that meets the rules to win. The C7 is old tech now.

July is typically the month when most auto manufacturers retool their assembly plants for new model cars, as well as for any changes in current models. I know both GM and Ford do this every year as I used to work for the company that handled their parts logistics. We had about a month of down time every year for the retooling.
