I use Maguire's car wash soap and water. Been doing that for five years, my top is ten years old and its stiill in great dhape, a few little wrinkles but otherwise looks near-new. If I lived where the sun is merciless, I might use something more for uv protection, but not really needed here.
I find it much easier to cover the glass and paint with some sheets/towels. The over spray gets everywhere and is a pain to clean up. but that's just my experience. (I tape off the rear window and cover with a couple sheets of paper)
You can buy the 3-pak of paint drop plastic, about 9'x10' I think, for a couple of dollars. Follow the pictures above, clean, let it dry, place the plastic/mask off the rear window and then apply the treatment. I use Raggtop but have used Aero on other verts I have had.
Don't forget to use some silicone grease on the rubbers seals. Should be some posts here. I started using back when I had a S2000. Apply and then wipe-off.
I have had no issue with overspray. I wipe it off the paint and glass as soon as I coat the top. Never had issues with difficulty removing the residue.
