I'm going to be parking my '13 GS for 3 weeks without access to a battery tender. Anticipating a dead battery, I thought I should make sure I can open the hatch with the key. I know I did it once before but this time I could not even get the key into the cylinder. So I tried the metal key from the other fob and it went right in and worked. I looked at them closely and while the "bumps" appear to be ground the same, it looks like the wrong blank was used. They are also different colors. The one that works looks to be brass, the one that does not looks to be stainless.
Can I get the blank anywhere but a dealer? Which one is original?

Besides the dealer, you can find other Blanks that will work and are found at most department stores, or Auto parts stores.
1) Axxess +28 Blank ( I use this one and keep in my wallet )
You'll still need a key to get into the car, but one suggestion would be to disconnect the battery while it is parked for that long. Completely draining a battery is bad for them. Plus, if you disconnect it, you can avoid that whole jump-start hassle on return.
