I have a 2012 GS that I bought used a couple years ago. The drivers left side seat bolster looks awful. Wrinkled and ugly. There is also a pretty nasty scuff down the side of the backrest where it looks like the previous owner may have had keys or something on hos belt - whatever. Took it to a local upholstery shop and the estimate is $700 to replace the seat bottom and the sides only on the back. I think the fact that the back side has an airbag probably complicates things. Just wondering of this is a fair price or if any of you have had anything like this done.
Thanks,
Russ
Do it yourself and you'll save half the cost or more. I would strongly recommend getting new foam and a seat base rebuild kit so the new skins & foam last longer than the original ones ever will.
I replaced the upper seat backs in an '09 with side airbag. Seats in the car, top removed for more access, and battery disconnected. You will not be disturbing the airbag, just remove battery connection. You should have a staple gun to repair this. I replaced the plain stock cover with optional cross flags.
The lower cushion, needs a ring plier, and the seats need to be removed. There is a video on you tube showing the removal and replacing of the upper and lower covers.

Agree that price quoted is too high!
Check out Interior Innovations for replacement covers, genuine and / or synthetic leather, many colors and options available, and less money than your quote.
Numerous posts here, and videos on YouTube about installation, or if you feel that it may be too difficult, an automotive trim shop would install them, again total investment would be less than your original quote.
shop around. Check with some more shops. The seat on my Camaro would wear out on the bolster from the seat belt. The local shop had to find the fabric but it was less than $100 labor and material.
That Corvette leatherette is much easier to find a match than the material on my Camaro.
I found slightly used seat covers on the big auction site. I think both seats were $200. Guy told me they came off new cars that folks were upgrading. I tried to do it myself....mistake. The bottoms are actually several pieces. Took them to an upholstery shop. They charged me $100 to put on both seat covers, tops and bottoms.
yeah, that does seem high......for that amount I'd buy new leather seat covers from Leatherseats.com & do it myself.
When I priced new covers from there it was around $1000 for the pair, then you either pay someone it install or DIY.
There are other cheaper seat skin places BUT they don't do the 2012-2013 covers or seats with airbags.

.
They don't do 2012-2013 seats, they are good option for the 2005-2010 (maybe 2011 , seat back is slightly different shape)
