It's either the clock spring or the grommet that the steering shaft goes through in the firewall. Happens to me too but I've been too lazy to try to find it.

Mine seems to be right at the steering wheel, not the firewall.

Clock spring?
I'm about to go crazy with my silicone spray in the interior then!!!!
I had the same issue, first tried spraying silicone in the hole for the airbag removal on side of wheel, this worked for a short time.
Finally got around to removing airbag and steering wheel and greased up between the clockspring and it has been perfect for a month.
Just lube between the black part and white part shown in this picture. I know there may be other squeaks but I believe this is the most common. Good luck

My 2010 ZR1 steering wheel squeaked when I got it last March. Was driving me crazy. It took my buddy pushing on the plastic column towards the front of the car to make it go away. I took the column halves apart. Saw no issues so I out it back together and it's been gone for good. Now if I can fix my squeeling brakes. %*^!!!&!!

Hi all, I swapped on a 2012 steering wheel and a few months later something started squeaking. I believe it's probably coming from here since it sounds like it is six inches in front of my face and only happens when turning the wheel a ways for turns. So where/how do you put the lube between the black part and white part? It doesn't look like there is a gap to lube? Does the white circle turn within the black circle when steering? Sorry I don't want randomly spray lube all over or smear grease with all the airbag stuff around etc ...thanks, the squeak is unbelievable
Hi all, I am about to have my 2011 JSB Z07 towed to the wrecker so they can put it out of it's misery. Dropped valve? No a f#-$+_($'n squeaking steering wheel!!! I have the steering wheel off, it's sitting on my lap right now and I'm staring at this thing trying to tell what the problem is. The only potential lead I have is the two black wire groups make a tiny squeak when I jiggle them, similar to the sound I hear when driving but maybe 3% as loud?
Above they say lube between the black part and the white part, but I have confirmed there is no gap? All I could do would be to spray silicone at the gap or cover it with grease.
Any help appreciated. I'm not driving the car till it's fixed or at least I have something to test. I wouldn't trade it in to a dealer I hated in this condition let alone sell it to any of you.
Please give me something to try by morning or I am going to cut off one of my fingers.
Mine also is at the steering wheel. I lifted the front wheels off the ground, put my head between the steering wheel and pedals to be certain it was not coming from the firewall area. I subscribed to the idea that it was coming from the area where the white plastic meets the black plastic because that could be accessed prior to taking off the steering wheel.
I used a long pipe cleaner. If you bend it a little, then it can move lower, closer to the center of the steering shaft. First l, I used the pipe cleaner to clean. It was noticably dusty. Then I put a little bit of light/thin machine oil the pipe cleaner, only the middle, only a little and only about a one inch space of it. I rotated it around the wheel and then kept it still and rotated the steering wheel a few times. Then used a paper towel to clean any residue off plastic I could see.
When I started this, the squeak was easy to reproduce. Now I can't make it squeak at all. Time will tell. New Balances or you don't really like Corvettes
