M6 ALL THE WAY!! you wouldn't be disappointed. A lot more vendors offer "mods" to the M6 than A6. Plus exhaust and so on sounds fairly better on manual IMO. At the end of the road, it is all what you prefer, your money, your car; we can't persuade you into something you are fixed on. Test drive both, sir, and figure which you'd prefer. Manual is fun, auto is more relaxing when it comes to road traffic.
M6 daily driver here. Manual is way more fun to me than an auto. Traffic or not, there's no way I'd get America's sports car with an automatic transmission. Just doesn't seem right! I bought the car to enjoy it, and your personal definition of how to enjoy the car the most will give you the right answer on what to choose.
I do take my car to the track for road racing. I wouldn't do that with an automatic ever.
Had a 2012 GS manual. Loved it! As many have stated, you definitely feel more CONNECTED with your ride. Funny, never seemed to come up to a stop facing downhill. And plenty of hills in this burg.
Recently shopping for AUTO and really, really have been enjoying not having to shift in and out of traffic.
Again, a personal preference. But if you plan on much driving in traffic........
I have had six vettes starting with a 1973 coupe. All have been autos except one and that was a 2008 3LT triple black vert with Z51. My next was a 2008 3LT vert with Z51 but automatic.
Now I am vetteless but looking again. I may buy soon and if I do it will likely be a 2016 vert but I found another '08 triple black vert with 3LT and Z51 that only has about 4500 miles on it so who knows...
My current problem is deciding on a manual or auto like you. I love shifting and the paddle shifters do not give me the same pleasure as the manual. As a side note, the auto does shift well if you put it in S but let the car shift. In my experience the shift takes a long time if you are manually paddle shifting.
I am likely going to sell my CTS and use the vette as a DD. I usually have the vette as a weekend driver but I usually want to drive it daily so having another to drive daily does not make sense.
With all that said, an auto may make sense because it simply shifts and I don't have to worry about it.
However, life is short and I like to shift so barring a fantastic deal on an auto, I am getting a manual.
Do what you like not what others tell you to like. In traffic I like the auto. I can shift when aI want to play and THEN LEAVE IT ALONE TO ENJOY ALL THE JERKS ON THIER PHONES RATHER than riving
It's a personal preference. Not about 'faster or slower', not about 'more manly'. I don't begrudge anyone for their preference.
That said, as long as my left leg is able, its M6 all the way for me. There is no feeling like the connection you get to the car via a clutch and stick. With an auto, I feel like I am just pax along for the ride, instead of piloting.
I DD my Corvettes, and also take them on trips. Never once have I regretted having a manual transmission.
Once, I bought an automatic-trans Corvette, because I thought it would be better for my 30-40 minute daily commute. I was wrong -- I felt so UN-involved in the driving experience, that I sold that car within 6 months and bought a manual.
Talk about un-involved....pretty soon there will be self driving Vettes, then we can just sit back and tell the car to beat that Mustang in the next lane over.

If you are going to daily drive in traffic get an A6. If you will only drive it on weekends where shifting won't be an issue, get an M6.
As far as speed goes, the Auto and Manual transmissions are neck and neck at the drag strip.
Finally, if you go M6, you will need to do monthly maintenance on the clutch master cylinder (ranger fluid replacement method) to avoid clutch slave cylinder issues.
What is this about monthly maintenance of the clutch? What is it that exactly needs to be done? Sounds like a pain. Even if you only drive it occasionally and not a daily driver? Thanks.
Cant go wrong either way, I dont really mind the auto and have no real interest in selling to find a manual car, but if I could swap my car with exact same options/color for one with a manual I would.
Yea....unless your driving one of those super car automatics that shift like a formula 1 car a manual in the correct hands will still spank an standard auto.....
Second Corvette, second M6. Had 3 mustangs, one was Auto the other two were manual. You do not get the same feeling driving an automatic. Sure its nice in traffic but what about the other 99% of the time. It's a sports car... Manual!
