Maybe because Z51 is not a model.

Yes it is worth it! I personally, would not buy a corvette unless it had the Z51 option.

I bought my 06 coup from a car lot as advertised ( 06 LS3 ). It's an 06 LS2 with 3LT/ Z51. They didn't know anything about the car. Got a great deal

I am not sure what you mean by that, EV. Are you indicating that some/many dealers do not even look at the option list/codes? You are probably right about that.

I also see vettes on lots with "automatic" plastered across the windshield, but when you look inside, it's a manual.

My point, as it was obviously missed, is that the Z51 often results in zero additional cost over a non-Z51. Ergo, the answer to the OP is that it may add no cost to the price of the vehicle.

Hey Buck, it was just a matter of nomenclature. It's only the difference between using the word "model" or "option". The Z51 is an option. I've seen the same in other posts. I think that was the point EV correctly made. No biggie...certainly not going to change the course of history

Apparently he's the second owner and the 1st stuck something on it.

You might think about taking test drives in cars with the Z51 option and comparing it to ones with the F55 option and those with no option.

Chevy promoted the Z51 as a performance option, right up to the first year where the ZR1 (highest performance) also had the mag ride. Then the Z06 got the mag ride as a performance option and the GS got it too. If you see a pattern here, it's that the F55 mag ride quickly became the performance option suspension once it was standard equipment on the ZR1.

Still you need to test it for yourself, as we don't all have the same tastes.

I ordered my 2005 c6 with Z51 and picked it up at the factory. I'd do it again.

On a used car the Z51 option only adds a couple of hundred bucks so in the grand scheme, it's not very significant moneywise. Many dealers selling used C6s don't know whether it's there or not.

I benefited from dealer ignorance for sure!

Also, I find the Z51 ride quite comfortable. Compared with my wife's Mini Cooper S with the handling package it rides like a Lexus!

Someone else may chime in but I am pretty sure there is a code in the VIN#

I have read it on here before but just never looked at my VIN to see it myself

As crazy as this may sound, the difference is like driving a Cadillac and a Corvette. Wife went with me when I drove my C5 non-Z-51 to the dealer to pick up the C6 with the Z51 option. She said that the new car did not "float" like the old one. Could not agree more.

The Z51 is a much more racing type stance and drive. For me, well worth any extra money.
