Default I few pics of the day at Atlanta Motorsports Park

A couple weeks ago Dave, and our buddy Ron and I went to AMP for the PDE(Performance Driving Experience) We all took advantage of the groupon for a full day of classes and 4 -20 min sessions with a instructor. This was a first for all of us. What a great day! The facility is incredible and as you can see has alot of tight turns and elevation changes. If any of you never done this a highly recommend it! We are all going back Nov 5th. Just got the CD yesterday in the mail and thought i would post up a few pics.

Yea, they are fun. We have an HDPE event coming up at the Daytona Speedway next weekend, but I don't have mine ready to do it. The Cooper tires I have on it now are not 170 to 50 mph tires......

Yes it was a humbling experience for me as I found my car could do way more than my driving skills could do

Also found out that I need DOT4 Brake fluid as I got it real hot , this was the reason why we did not go out for the 5th event

It was absolutely awesome ....

Do a search on Performance Driving Experience, it's run by a guy named Dave Ahur and it was very well organized ...

Cost is around 250 to 275 ,I think , we got a deal thru Groupon that they are not offering anymore

But even at tge increased price ..... I would do it again in a heartbeat

It's not about "DOT 4". You need a fluid that has higher dry and wet boiling points. The range, even within DOT 4 can be quite significant. For example....
Motul RBF 660: 617* Dry / 399* Wet
Motul RBF 600: 594* Dry / 421* wet
Castrol Advanced Performance: 509* Dry / 329* Wet
Some other points....
Braking technique has a significant impact. Hopefully your instructor was clear regarding "fast/smooth on and fast/smooth off" when braking. Dragging the brakes for a long distance prior to corner entry will boil the fluid easily.

Brake fluid age has an impact. Many clubs require an inspection and verification that the fluid is no more than 90 days old. The "change it every 2 years" for street driving doesn't fly. Brake fluid absorbs water, even if the car is a garage queen and as you can see in the above example, the boiling point drops quite a bit.

Brake cooling over and above what comes from the factory becomes mandatory as speeds and aggressiveness increase.

Lots of threads on brake bleeding. If the fluid is dirty however, you will see the color change as fresh fluid comes out. It's unfortunate the Ate Super Blue is no longer available. Swapping between the Ate Typ 200 which is gold and the Super Blue (which was literally blue) made fluid changes super easy.

I used Ate for years although I now use Motul RBF 660.

Depending on age of the fluid and personal preference, some will bleed 1 liter through the system, others will do up to 2 liters.

Have fun, keep your eyes up!

Thanks for the tips , I am sure our beginner status had a lot to to with boiling the fluid . Our new seasoned racing friends at the track recommended the Castrol but after reading your post ....

Most likely they were talking about Castrol SRF....590* Dry / 518* Wet

Awesome fluid due to the wet temp but it comes at a cost.....about $70 Liter
