I have a new set of shocks(4 regular) to put on and will need an alignment too. Does anyone have a recent Dealer or outside shop estimate/or what you have paid, on the cost to one - install 4 shocks, and two - a four wheel alignment. I could probably do the shocks but don't want to at this time.
It's on my 2006, A6, base(6.0) convertible. I am in Wash. State but just trying to get some prices that might be close before I check the dealers and shops here.
I am aware of the settings problem or not on the alignment so not looking for that information.
I'd call any local tire or muffler shop and ask them. I would guess $100-150 labor for 4 wheel alignment and shock install. Maybe less if after check the alignment wasn't needed.
Alignment checks usually are free, the hook will be that "you do need an alignment".
Check hr. rate for labor in your area before you get quotes. Most reputable places(and some shady ones as well) will have their hr. rate posted somewhere in the shop. Believe it or not, Big O tires stores have the laser alignment rack, almost technician proof. Most accommodate lowered vehicles as well. Just an option.

Won't need any hook on this one. The inside fronts worn out and the rest and backs had 6/32 left. But it was that way when I bought the car and planned for new tires.
Know the drill, just looking for some current prices to see what's in the ballpark as they can be varied. Thanks.
I think for shock installation, you need to define what are the normal, indie shop labor charges. In my area, it's about $100-$125/ hr. My estimate would be 1-2 hrs. of labor.
For alignment, the range is $90-$190 for an all-wheel alignment. And, yes, the range for alignment is that wide (and the two shops I use are both very competent---just charge different amounts).
