Been looking for a fun weekend vert since I sold my 72 Cutlass (tired of the maint). I had never really considered vettes since my only experience was with c3's which I found too rough. Drove a bunch of imports but they were boring. I finally tried a manual C6 - I was blown away!
In the ATL area. Found a 07 with 25k, power top , nav, not z51. I got the dealer down to 30K but he won't go lower. Is this a decent value?
I get the feeling this will be my entry vette so resale is on my mind
In winter values vary greatly by locale. Since you've cleverly left off your area, nobody can say with authority how right or wrong that price is.
I'd put it high for an LS2 even in perfect shape. Then again, if the freight is what you can bear and you like the dealer / car, do it. It's not like you're gonna be dying someday & pissed off you spent $1,500 too mich on your dream car.
$5000??? Possibly for a small sampling, maybe 5 cars, but overall, not a chance.
Granted, there is a price bump for a 'vert, but not $5000 on the C6, as the value for that model, as well as virtually all options, is reduced over time. Yes, you will see a good bump on later C6 models, but by the time you get to an '05 to '07, there is little diff.
Currently, the valuation differential of identical '05 Corvette coupes vs 'verts is slightly over $800. The differential of 2013 coupes vs. 'verts is about $2700.
(Added via edit). For the record, I used values from KBB and NADA. Nada had to be tossed, because those fools show a retail/dealer price for a 2013 base convertible to be the exact same as that for the coupe, which is nonsense. KBB showed value differentails that were consistent with my own records. You can argue that KBB or NADA are not accurate, but the simple value differentials will be equally accurate or inaccurate for both models.

Seems like all i've been hearing for the past year or so in this forum is how the value of our beloved C-6's is going up, or will be soon, esp. the GLORIOUS GS. But it seems that most of the price quotes in this thread seem to be shooting that philosophy down.....
I haven't seen anyone saying the prices are actually going up, except for the fairly significant swing of Spring vs. Fall. However, the prices do appear to not be falling as quickly as prior generations did during the same life cycle.
I don't think any base C6 will appreciate in value until it hits the rock-bottom of the cycle, probably around the 25-year level.

It works both ways! It helps us poor folk, so we can afford to join your lovely Corvette family!

First post says "in the ATL area". IMO the value by location thing is way overblown. Maybe not the case 10-20-30 years ago, but the internet has made the world a very small place.

I have been watching also. If you check the online car sales sites you will find several 3LT Z51 verts for under $30K.
I bought my '09 1LT A6 coupe 20 months ago with just under 26K miles on the clock for $28.5K from a local dealer. He had advertised it on line as a weekend special at $30.5K.
Also check the large online auction site's "completed" listings that actually sold [notated with a green dollar value]. This will also give you a frame of reference for pricing relative to miles, trim level, etc. The Vette search is part of the fun! Enjoy the journey.
I bought a 2010 2Lt 21k miles $27k got lucky on this one!
I don't think you got "lucky". I think you paid attention, did your research, and, as a result, were on top of a good deal when it broke.
People who decide they want a 'vette, and have "X" amount of money often buy the first one they find at that price. Six months later, they want to sell it so they can buy the 'vette they really want. Problem is, they overpaid, so they are stuck.
Congrats on your car...would like to see some pics...
Don't forget that Verts go for about $ 5K more than coupes, so include that in any comparison of deals.
They produced way less verts then coupes especially as the years go on.
If it's the car you want (color/trans/etc) and in near perfect condition, i wouldn't sit to wait for another car to save a couple thousand, and may not be the color you want, more miles, etc.
Some people sit to look for a "deal" forever and never buy anything.
