Also, please let us know if disconnecting the battery solves the issue. Knowing how the systems work on this car, it should do absolutely nothing but, if you report that it does, it will prove that the GM computers are very poorly designed and are no better than what you would find in a microwave oven. I, however, believe after reading the shop manuals, that GM knows how to design systems for a car which is why I'm so convinced the "just disconnect the battery" is nothing but a VERY oft repeated urban legend. But I do understand some people believing it because of misinterpreting experiences just as they believe the FOB continuously communicates since they think the doors unlock when the FOB is nearby. The car's computers all reset automatically on timers initiated by different occurrences or when powered up by the BCM computer. If you disconnect the battery and a timer times out at the same time, you think you were the one that solved the issue. But I can be proven wrong by a single instance of an issue that lasted over night that permanently went away after disconnecting the battery which is why I ask you to PLEASE report back if disconnecting solves your issue.

The only reason I suggested disconnecting the negative cable, was because he had already tried the positive cable several times. With things he mentioned, such as the charger, I thought there might be corrosion at the terminal. It's not an uncommon thing to cause significantly reduced power.

I kept the fluorescents off, put my cell phone on the bench and installed my FOB in the glove box. It started right up. Let it run for a few minutes and shut it off and started it up again using the push button switch. Most important is I got the windows indexed and back up for the winter. That's all I'm doing for now. She is tucked away for the winter. I want to thank everyone for the suggestions and ideas. Feeling better!

Default Fob summary

This all started when I went to FL for 6 weeks in Oct and decided to disconnect the battery so it wouldn't go flat. ( I have been through that once). I didn't have the battery tender at that point. When I came home and connected the battery, the fob would not work. This was the first time I removed the positive cable, the fob did work after reinstalling the cable. A couple days later I wanted to go for a cruise and the fob was not recognized again. I tried the same procedure with no luck. I decided to replace the fob batteries because I didn't know how old they were. Replacing them had no success. I started all these other remedies after chatting with all the smart and clever folks on the forum. So today was the first time I have tried the glove box key slot and it did allow me to start the car and get my window back up after doing the indexing. All is still not right. I have a message after shutting the engine off that says, "No FOB", but the car would start again using the ignition button.
I'm done with it until next spring.
Thanks again everyone for all the help and advice. What a great resource this sight is. Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas!!

With that stipulation, I totally agree.
