I am very suprised at how many Corvette styling cues are in the XLR. For over 50 years the Corvette was an exclusive platform that made it something special. I was totally shocked to see the Cadillac dash screaming Corvette and the trademark C5 / C6 center loading exaust grafted on the Cadillac. Whats next GM, a cheaper version with a Pontiac Firebird name plate?? Its a sad shame that the Corvette is now going to be another GM bastard Like Tahoe / Escalade. I can see using a frame but when the dash starts looking the same and other features start cropping up on both cars it then becomes just another bastard. I can see the Nissan ads now, like Lincoln rightfully showed in the past. The valet drives up in a car and the couples start fighting over what car is theirs, Thats not my Cadillac thats your Corvette. Nooo thats not your Corvette thats our Cadillac!! Im sure you remember that one now dont you GM. Sigh :mad
You have a lot of good points...there are PROBABLY styling clues on the caddy that foretell some of the C6....do not let the snap happy internet shut ins who jump you for your opinion stop you from sharing your thoughts with us..

If we all thought the same....we would all have Saturns! :jester

Remember, diversity in life, biology and opinions keeps us FROM being Fascists and Extinct.

Thankfully I've yet to see a Corvette that looks like that, and my money would be on the C6 not looking like that either.

The snap-happy shut-ins asked what styling cues WhiteIce was talking about, and all we got was a chrome oval center-mounted exhaust. Seems those "good points" just evaporated.

You can also look at the dash the layout is just like C5s Dont forget you are looking at the fancied up version of the C6 here. the center console and cluster other then cosmetics is right out of C5. Take a good look at the features here folks its a clone for the C6. What you see here will be VERY CLOSE to what C6s interior will look like. Notice no seat mounted sholder/seat belts. They are still going to use the old anchor points. Im suprised. Corvette will have Im sure much cheaper looking seats and no vertical lock box, Im sure the waterfall will be there in some form. Expect to see the rear arches on C6 as well. Remember what you are looking at in the Cadillac interior pics IS C6 folks. Its suprisingly much the same layout as the C5 just a bit more refined. It also looks like the ash tray will return to the console under a longer flip open door like C4. Im guessing it will have a cup holder in there and a removable ash tray/2nd cup holder for non smokers.

Wow, it has guages in the middle and buttons on the sides! How did I not see that earlier? It's definitely almost exactly like a C5, except that it's not.

I bet you there won't be anything visible except the seatbelts, the steering wheel rim, the DIC, and possibly the stalks that's shared between the XLR and C6. Cadillac would not appreciate a Chevy stealing the crisp Art & Styling look of its new $70,000 flagship.

I don't know if I've ever seen a more hideous car than the Cadillac XLR. :U

Designed from the ground up as an open-air vehicle, the XLR boasts a design inspired by the stealth fighter and an enviable combination of strength, agility and lightweight construction.
I can't believe they would say "a design inspired by the stealth fighter". The only reason the stealth fighter has all the multi-angle facets it has, is because when it was designed they didn't have the computing power to analyze and design low radar-cross section shapes except on large polygons. They wanted smooth curves for aerodynamic reasons, but couldn't make stealthy curved surfaces, so they compromised, making one of the ugliest aircraft I've seen. The B2 and F22 are both stealth aircraft, but no where near as ugly as an F117. They were designed with faster computers, so they could have smooth surfaces.

So for one, the Caddy is copying old technology, that only looks the way it did because of lack of computing power. Second, the whole reason for the look that it's copying was because of wanting a low radar cross-section, which was not even a goal for the XLR. That's so collosally stupid, it makes my head hurt to even think about it. I can't believe anyone could like the way they look, and I pity anyone who buys one, because the resale will plummet when everyone realizes they are not "futuristic", they are just ugly.

Perhaps they meant the F-22, which is also stealth and is also a fighter, and is exceedingly good looking.

Anyone else heard the rumor that GM's marketing mavens are considering a third car on the C6 platform? Named "Cadavette" it will take the "best" features ot the Corvette and XLR and be sold through Saturn dealers. ;)

I have said this before and I'll say it again..The Jaguar S Type, the Lincoln LS, and the Thunderbird, are all sharing the same platform, the bird actually being made in a lincoln plant. They are not the same.

Amen. And yet someone here is afraid that we'll be confusing XLRs for C6s.

No, a personal attack would leave the attackee in the hospital on a ventilator....and again, only if you are a fascist!

What the F is your def of fascist? Mine is spot on correct...
Fascism is communism without all the BS of pretending that everyone is equal...either way, it DOEs NOT WORK. Germany got crushed, the USSR imploded, and Cuba and most of the socialist/fascist regimes in South America are in bankruptcy....

Fascism is allowing you to have your own opinion, as long as it is the same as the ruling class...uh, make the superrich/powerful.

Remember, I am FL...we have seen 2 elections stolen.

.5% of the population controls 89.7% of the cash/liquid assets. What would you call this? A lucky few...

What do YOU not understand?

There are people in the world who don't do drugs...

and I FEEL SORRY FOR THEM and you.

Fourth time's a charm?
No, spell checker does not work on this forum, so...I type quick and correct later.

By the way, you are a lot more reasonable than some of your posts indicate....

seriously though, think about the drug references and be careful...more of us are on zannax than you can imagine and if my Rx runs out....

"Y" = Corvette

That's the way it's always been. That's the way it always should be. F'n Cadillac! Cadillac truist hate the XLR as much as Vette truists do. And the fact that Caddy is putting the LS-6 in their latest shoebox is also an abomination to both camps. Caddy uses their own engines. If I want a family car with a small block 350, I'll buy a GTO.

LS1/LS6 = 346ci ! And .Jinx will be the first to tell you that the LS1/LS6 are a complete redesign of the SBC w/ only rod bearings common, so you can't even call it a SBC in the traditional sence. ;)

Default The XLR *still* doesn't look like a Corvette

I'm not against anyone having an opinion. If I was, I wouldn't be here. But a "hooray for everything" environment where opinions are above criticism is just fascism of a different sort.

What the F is your def of fascist? Mine is spot on correct...
Umm, no. We're individuals having a discussion. Fascism is a political philosophy which puts nation ahead of the individual and believes in central autocratic rule, severe economic and social regimentation, and suppression of opposition. Fascism is only good for one guy. I like my odds better in a democratic republic with a capitalist economy. It got me a Corvette.

I am not here to suppress opposition. But I will call 'em as I see 'em, and the position that Cadillac has stolen all of Corvette's styling cues doesn't have a whole lot to back it up.

No, a personal attack would leave the attackee in the hospital on a ventilator....and again, only if you are a fascist! ... the latest edit by me was AFTER my zannax kicked...I almost bought a ticket to Oaktown...
If I didn't think you were kidding or was less secure, I might see that as a veiled physical threat. I trust you don't *actually* have such problems controlling yourself. But you'd be better off if you just didn't go there at all. Oaktown ain't a hot tourist destination.

By the way, you are a lot more reasonable than some of your posts indicate....

seriously though, think about the drug references and be careful...more of us are on zannax than you can imagine and if my Rx runs out....
And my wife's on a mix that makes zannax look like Flintstones vitamins. We call them meds. Drugs are what the guys at the end of my block are selling. The lighthearted drug reference stands.

And as an LS1/LS6 lover I'd be pleased as punch to see it in half the cars GM builds. (Notice I said "cars" not "vehicles.")

Of course I'd be pleased as punch to see the Northstar in half the cars GM builds too. (Maybe then there'd be more aftermarket parts. More expensive parts, but more available.)

It's just sad that there's not a single V8 in the 2003 Pontiac lineup, and the only V8 Buick has is in a truck.
