I know why people(myself included) like the manual 6sp over the auto. Never the less my current car is an auto. Does reprogramming improve the shift points up and down?? When I get into mine now it has a huge pause before it drops down in gears. It also seem to go one gear to far and almost jumps to frickin redline and then shift immediatly into the next gear. It would be well wort the money if this could all be resolved with a better tune. I also hate the fact that auto don't have any torque braking what so ever.... Alot of these issues arent as bad when in sport/paddle mode....
Also the damn thing will not come out of park sometimes. That is embarrassing as F*ck also!

I can't speak for the tune, but the sticking in park issue is well documented. You should resolve that one immediately before it becomes permanently stuck to where you need a tow truck.
I agree with you, when the car does finally downshift (after being forced to floor it to get it to drop down a gear) it downshifts at least one or two gears too far, and takes the engine to redline.
I've also found that even after getting the transmission tuned, it will still try to downshift too far if you take the gas pedal all the way to the floor.
In my opinion, all the downshifting should occur prior to the gas pedal getting to the 3/4 (or 75%) position. Any further acceleration after 75% should NOT cause yet another downshift. You should be able to use the torque available from the engine by simply accelerating once the downshift is done, allowing you to use the engine to drive the car instead of the transmission.
I can see absolutely no good reason to try to do a downshift when the throttle is at the 90% position. All that does is tear up the transmission, engine, and risk loosing traction and control of the car in the process. I'm astounded by just how poorly GM has programmed this transmission, and I'm further amazed that even the folks who tune the transmissions still haven't gotten it right.
