Default Current Rattle Can Recommendations

I'm replacing the center console and the dash surround again. My current pieces are unusable w/o major work to repaint again, and I am looking to paint them myself this time. I have "new" OEM parts in the mail.

What is considered the current best brand (LMB, specifically) for color and clear coat?

Thanks!

I did 2 radio surround consoles with rattle cans and clear coat and it worked perfectly.
I used Krylon and a clear coat (name brand escapes me) on one, and Auto touch up lacquer paint and clear on another and they both turned out great.
Both times I used adhesion promoter on the sanded plastic part prior to spraying.
Here is the process I used in the PDF

Duplicolor has basically all automotive color matches. You have a rainbow of colors to choose. Duplicolor spray cans have good spray pattern that gives a very nice finish. One can of color and one can of clear will do alot of interior parts,

Another option is to go to a body shop paint supply store. There is now pressurized spray can options that they can suppy in any color you wish made for you on site. You can get top quality paint that way. In my area I use Finishmaster.

I read this three times Mrs. Ow, and I must be missing something (not uncommon ).

If you have "new" parts (coming to you?) in the mail, why bother painting your old ones?

When the car was new, Mr.owc6 found some guy on the internet who was painting the parts (center console and dash surround), so he sent the parts, the guy painted them and sent them back--painted the wrong color. Green. We sent them back and he painted them the correct color--LMB. All the openings for buttons and switches were very tight due to paint buildup. Needless, to say I wasn't very happy about the whole transaction.

It was fine (tolerable) for about five or six years, then the paint started fading, and the green started showing through. Double At this point, it would take too much work to get the openings the correct size and correct the green so the color doesn't show through again. I'm not repainting the original parts, I plan on binning them when I get the "new to me" parts painted.

Used OEM parts are relatively inexpensive, and I have a fresh "canvas" for the paint.

Ha, okay. I was pretty sure there was some explanation, but I couldn't figure out what it was.

Here's wishing you luck.

I would have them painted by a professional...one notices this area every drive, so it needs to look especially good, especially if clear coated.

Yes, shop jobbers/ wholesales can make any color and install in an aerosol can.
Don't forget the 2000 grit sandpaper and "elbow grease".

Again good luck with your project.

Does anyone offer a powder-coated set in exchange for your cores?

If someone would send out coated calipers the same day they received my cores, I would do it. Otherwise, my calipers will never be colored -- too lazy for any other method.

EDIT: DANG! Sorry Mrs. Ow, I thought I was in the caliper thread.

I'm getting ready to order the paint, but have one last question; is one can of color enough to do the center console and the dash surround?

@LV2TOUR, thank you for the detailed directions. I had the confidence to do the job, but the directions gave me a few new things to consider. I especially like the tip of using rags under the area to cut down on paint dust.
