Default handsfree microphone placement

I have been reading all afternoon on this site about new head units, speakers, sound system, back up cameras, etc......... I'm trying ti figure out what all I want in the end so I'm not spending twice. Currently, I have an 07 coupe base and non bose. I bought this car knowing I was going to change all of this out anyway. so............. I think I have the new headunit/screen in mind with the backup camera (thanks to other suggestion I found here). My question I currently don't have hands free so I need to add the microphone. I cant find anywhere else that has shown how others have done it. I suspect its pretty easy, but I want to make sure if there are issues or missteps other have had before I get into it, I would love to be educated. Thanks as always!

Same here, right next to the factory mic in the pillar. Works well, even with top off and some wind noise.

you can just clip it to the plastic trim piece below your gas gauge and it works great

My installer put it on the rear view mirror. Works great there.

Mine went in front of the gauge cluster on the sterring wheel. Doesn't block anything and works great.

Mine too. People I speak to seem to think the sound quality is fine.

This is what I did. I have a vert, and I felt mounting at the top of the A pillar would generate too much wind noise.
