I have an 05 Z51. It's the dead of winter here in WNY and I have it on my new CTEK tender. My wife got home and it was honking and the lights were flashing and she couldn't get the FOB to do anything. She unplugged the tender. I think the battery is right in that gray area where its almost dead and this may be a feature of the alarm. I am going to pull the battery tomorrow and take it to be tested but am thinking I either need to put it on an actual charger or it may be junk. Am I close?
There are two settings on the CTEK. Which one are you using? I have an AGM battery, adn use the higher setting (I think it has a snowflake on it). When I first got the CTEK I used the lower setting (default) and the charger got really hot.
But yes, your battery could also be shot. Do you know how old it is?
I believe it is 2 years old and I have it on the winter setting. It's been a little colder here and I think it might need to be pulled, put on a tester to see if it's junk or not then fully charged before putting it back on the tender.

If the tender isn't keeping it fully charged then the battery is probably shot or close to it. Fast charging it won't help anything.
File under FWIW.
Is your bride's car a GM & use a FOB?
I ask because my girl's Cad CTS4 does & every once in a while I'll unlock my C's trunk and the Cad's lights flash...as if Cad's being locked.
Hasn't caused any baloney (non-start etc) so-far, but know GM vehicles use similar freq w/ all their vehicles. So something she did for her car may have been picked-up by yours, resulting in what happened.
YMMV.
