Default C6 common problems

I have been browsing cars for sell and one thing that seems to pop up a lot in the adds is heads addressed. Is there a problem with the heads on them? See it on low mileage cars. What are they talking about when they say heads addressed? Im looking for a stock or pretty well stock c6. Thanks Mike

Use the search feature! you will find all the info you want. Some have had valve guide issues with their heads.

Valve guide issue has only affected the LS7 427 engine - so if you are looking at a ZO6 or a 427 edition car that is the only time you need to be concerned.
The LS3 & LS2 have proven to be rock solid.

With the wisdom of General Motors, they saved $5 on aluminum when they designed the differential cases on the 2005 models. They realized this too late, so they fixed it with a software program they called "torque management". This basically limited the horsepower in 1st and 2nd gears. Even with that, there were some catastrophic differential failures.

They fixed it in 2006.

Other that this, my 2005 has been basically perfect.

Hey Mike, the issue with heads only refers to the Z06 or cars with the LS7 motor. If you are looking at a base or GS, there is no reason to be concerned. Also, how much of an issue the heads are on a Z06 is also debatable. Some seem to be more concerned than others but I guess each car could potentially carry a risk. But I do know someone who is the original owner of a 06 Z06 with high mileage, and when I asked him about the heads he had no idea what I was talking about. I guess he is not a member of the forum.

If were talking about a C6 your more likely to have other issues like Electrical then anything else, with that being said C6's are very dependable cars.

I would just like to know where or what you have been reading? As previously said, the LS7 has had some head problems, so exactly what are you wanting, a Z06, ZR1, GS, or base model car, and what year?

One common problem is that once you get into the car you don't want to get out.
