I've heard of some people razoring or sanding it?? One place in pensacola would use some type of glue on that part to fill in the gaps between the dots. Think it may have been the glue that holds puzzles together. haha. Mod podge or whatever. Don't quote me! They may have just been messing with me about the type of glue. I think most people just accept it or don't really notice it

I had mine done last week, the cause is those darn dots...mine looks pretty good as my installer did a great job...

Does anyone know WHY they put the dot matrix on the windows anyway!! I have been told that it is for sound deadening, or for sun reflection...I could sure do without them that's for sure!!

I agree , you have to have a good installer

You could paint the area but then you run into the challange that paint does not stick well to glass , hence the reason the factory uses the ceramic coat , you also you run the risk of it peeling off as the paint expands and contracts at a different rate than the glass . The "look" of the paint on the inside might not appeal to all ....

Using the glue trick works but boy its messy , just not worth it in my opinion, stand a foot away from my car and you never would notice the dots as my installer was very good

The reason why the ceramic coating is on the glass ... around the perimeter its a solid coating and its there to protect the urethane adhesive from ultraviolet rays which would break the adhesives down leading to bond failure The rest of the area is a decorative way to cut down on the heat load that enters the car

I had mine done on a C5 and came out pretty good. The installer said it would get better after the adhesive dries and he was right. Not perfect, but close, considering.

I can assure that the very next thing someone would have to do if they tried to sand or use a razor to take the dots off ....would be buying a new back window .... and if you think our windshields are expensive .......you dont want to ask what the backlite cost to replace ....

Its best to leave it alone and just live with the look which if done right does not look bad at all

I will see if i can take a good picture of my back window with tint and post it ....

Check out this thread where I detail how (with pictures) why a tint guy experienced with Corvette back glass does not have to resort to using vinyl, Elmer's Glue or attempting to remove the ceramic dot matrix to deliver a quality C6 tint job:

My 911 has the dots on the rear window and rear quarter windows. I have the un-tinted UV-block ceramic film on it and the installer did a great job over the dots. I can see a couple places where it's not perfect but really have to look close.

I haven't seen the need to film the Vette. The windows are factory tinted way darker than the 911 and it stays cool inside under the same all-day tropical sun which quickly faded the 911's carpets before I had it filmed.
