Default JWM Eagle Eye Issue

I'm having an issue with my JWM Eagle Eyes that were already installed on my '06 when I bought it a month ago. Basically, when brakes are not applied, several of the LEDs were lit up at a higher intensity than the others (pic #1 below) and when the brakes were applied, the remaining LEDs would brighten normally and the brighter LEDs would dim.

Looking online, it seems this happens if the plugs were installed backwards. So, I pulled them out, reversed the plug and other than two LEDs that appear to be burnt out regardless of the way the plug is installed, it initially seemed to fix the problem. However, after I turned the car off and turned it back on, the LEDs that were brighter before are bright again, but now stay the same bright intensity (instead of dimming) when the brakes are applied (pic #2).

On a side note, if I manage to get this dim/bright bulb issue worked out, has anybody actually opened these up and tried to replace the LEDs? If so, can I get a link to the actual LED bulbs used?

This is how the bulbs were when I started. They were temporarily fixed when I reversed the plug, but resumed this same behavior after the car was turned off and turned on again.

The only thing that changed is where before I reversed the plug, those bottom LEDs would dim when the brakes were applied, they now stay the same intensity as shown in this pic.

I can't tell you much, my Eagle Eyes are over three years old with no issues.

I can tell you when you connect the wires together, make sure you look close and both connectors and make sure before you snap them in correctly, they matched with BLACK TO BLACK together.

I'll open them up this evening and take a look. Also going to move the light to a different harness and see if the issue follows.

You do know they are marked for left side and right side of the car, with either letters or numbers?

Mine was marked 1's on the left, 2's on the right!

I do recall reading that and I'm 90% sure I saw that the one acting up was marked 'L' or something like that. However, if it was incorrect, I should have another light acting up in a similar fashion. Since I'm only having the issue with the one light...

Looks like you just have a BAD led tail light. Rare I think, but it does happen. Mine are over 5 years old with no problems.

I am curious as to how you know that they are JWM led tail lights if they were on the car when you bought it?

The backside of the housings had a JWM sticker on them. They were starting to peel off. So, I removed them or I'd get a picture to show you.

The reason that I asked was because I have had several sets of JWM led tail lights over the years and there was nothing on them indicating that they were from JWMotoring. All of mine are still working fine.

Maybe Jhonathan started marking them in recent years as mine are several years old.

You may have to buy a replacement set so you will have some spares.

If you do wind up opening up the unit, I'd like to see a picture of the inside.

Other then that, it seems like a problem on the board itself. You could verify by swapping the light to the another position and see if the problem moves or stays in the same position. If you haven't done that yet.
