Default Anyone with a Tech 2 that can program keyfobs?

I need a new fob programmed and do not have the trunk key.

My understanding is it can be done with a Tech II.

The dealer wants quite a bit to do it, so...

Is there anyone in the North DFW area willing to do this for a small price?

Thanks.

If you don't find anyone you can always take your vin and proof of ownership to a dealer and they will make you a key.

You can also jump across the two wires at the back of the trunk key cylinder 5 times to simulate the key rotation. I don't remember the name, but recently a forum member did that and reported that it worked correctly. After the 5th contact, the DIC came up with the proper message. You just have to do it within the time in the instructions.

I just went through this as our car came with 2 #2 fobs, one of the fobs was really beat up and there were 3 fobs registered in the ECM meaning one was lost and never erased. I purchased a brand new fob from ebay for $69 and went through the long program to eliminate the lost fob and kept the beat up one for a spare wrapped in tinfoil and hidden in the car.

From the time you initiate the program with the 5 key twist you don't have much time to initiate the process by pushing the aux button or it cancels the process.

It took 3 attempts before I got it to initiate and had to sprint from the back to get the input in time. My senior frame doesn't move as quick a it used to lol.

If anyone hasn't done the long program before I would advise to read the instruction over several times and mentally go through the motions and get it clear in your mind. After dutifully going through the 1/2 hour sequence I got the message "ready for Fob #1" and since I had just responded to every 10 minute prompt with a push of the aux button I ignorantly and automatically pushed aux again instead of inserting Fob #1 cancelling the whole procedure and wasting 1/2 hr. of my time.

As far as the actual key missing my GM dealer cut me a spare (for $12) from the one that I had and told me that even if i didn't have a key they could cut me one (for a larger fee) if I had documented proof of ownership and the VIN of the car.
