Default Navagation System Graphics

I purchased a 2013 GS this past winter, this is the third C-6 we have owned, all had Nav. The graphics on the 2013 GS is just as bad as the 2006 was, our other cars, 2014 Lexus & 2015 expedition are way better for graphics, is there anything out there (GM or otherwise) to upgrade this poor system that can be used in the current 2013 C-6 display screen? Thanks, Jim

Either live with it or replace with aftermarket and lose the turn by turn directions on the HUD in favor of better graphics. Those are your options.

Hopefully, some day, someone smarter than me is going to develop a way to get the turn-by-turn from an aftermarket nav radio on to the HUD and get rich in the process!

The graphics on your 2013 are as bad as your 2006 was is because they are the same unit, all C6 from 2005-2013 had the same navigation.

EVRose; when you say replace with aftermarket, do you mean an additional screen? Thanks, Jim

Sativa: Yes it is the same unit, with updated street & POI info on the disc for 2013, but the graphics are still very poor. Thanks, Jim

i've been looking around too. i'm 3 months into my first vette (2010 GS) and its appalling how bad the nav system is. although its my only complaint---love the car---its a daily reminder of what my computer monitor looked like in 1997

He means pull out the stock navigation head unit and replace with after market. Here is a recent thread with a few pictures of mine. I felt the same way about my stock radio/navigation in my 2012 and replaced it.

Never going to happen. It has been in development from 2012-2014 but never happened for the C6. They always said they were a month away but it never materialized. It did happen for Fords and Dodges but not the C6. This is the company:

When I was looking for a C6 I decided against getting factory NAV because it did not compare to my portable hand held Garmin's graphics or ease of use. Onece I got my C6 I immediately contacted Dennis at DD Mods and purchased a Kenwood (DNX890HD) with Garmin and added backup camera. The BEST mod I have done to my car hands down. Also improved sound quality. Well worth the money.

They DO look the same but there are differences.

A 2005 Navigation Unit MUST go back into a 2005 Vehicle.
A 2006 – 2008 Navigation Unit MUST go back into a 2006 – 2008 Vehicle.
A 2009 Navigation Unit MUST go back into a 2009 Vehicle.
A 2010 Navigation Unit MUST go back into a 2010 Vehicle.
A 2011 – 2013 Navigation Unit MUST go back into a 2011 – 2013 Vehicle.

Some units have an AUX port and some have connections for the steering wheel control buttons.

Dont know where you heard this but its not true. Lots of people update their older nav HU with the newer one with the usb port. No problem.

Got it from:

http://www.clevelandpap.com/2005-201...ry-navigation/

and my experience installing a NAV in my 2006 that came from the factory with a Bose 6 CD changer,

Tom

Good info. At any rate all oem NAVs are not the same. I think we hijacked this thread.
