What do you think of the Ceramic coating some retailers use to preserve the paint. Have you had it done?
What do you think of it.?
What did you pay for the treatment.?

My dad had his Grand Sport and he loves it....and since Im the one always washing/detailing it, I love it too. The bugs wash off alot easier than normal, usually just a light spraying of water then wipe off. Dont remember what he paid for it, but hes had it done the last 2 of the 3 yrs hes owned the car. Right after he bought the car, he had it teflon coated.....and was not happy with results....every since then though its been coated by the local Ceramic Pro dealer where we live.
I had my 2007 z51 coupe done almost 3 years ago when i bought it. It is great very easy to clean when needed. Just a rinse off with water wipe it dry and detail spray it and it looks like it was never dirty. The shine is unbelievable. To give you and idea i went to Hot Springs Ar all vet show last month and took first place in c6 coupes and i drove it 250+ miles there in a very nasty rain storm. So i for 1 swear by CQuartz. Will probalby have it redone in another couple of years but as of right now it still beads like it was just done when water gets on it.

The coating itself offers protection for your paint for a longer time period than traditional waxes or sealants. The real work is in the preparation of the paint PRIOR to the coating application.
Have applied it on daily driven vehicles of mine, and Corvettes for others. I have not used it on my Corvette at this time.

It has benefits of durability, and makes cleaning your vehicle easier.

The coating kits typically run it the $150.00 price range, and typically includes enough material to complete 2 vehicles.
I provided answers to the OP's question in red above to keep the topic on track.
Thanks to all for their input.
I never thought to by a kit and do it myself, but I will next time it needs it.
A local detailer is doing mine right now. I won't say how much but it's a lot more than a kit would cost. He is very detailed and even removes the emblems. He also coats the wheels and all glass and headlights.
Besides, I'm too old to do it myself. I'm not sure if I will ever have to have it done again because It might out last me. I don't even buy green bananas anymore . Lol.
I had a local detail shop do a 2 step paint correction that took out all of the swirl marks, hard water spots and surface scratches in my paint. They got out hard water spots in all of the glass and targa top. Then they put IGL Kenzo ceramic coating on all the paint, glass, plastic trim, wheels and break calipers. The gloss is amazing. Last 4 years, makes washing a breeze and no waxing. The pictures don't really do it justice because of the light when I took them but it looks better than it did new I'm sure. It was a long process and took them a week. It wasn't cheap and I hate to post what it cost because then you get all of the "you paid too much" post. I think it was well worth it.
I dunno about you guys but i had a full paint correction and ceramic coating done on my vette locally and it was around 650$. my car looks perfect all the time and it was well worth the price. its amazing how well rain beads off of it.
I had my GS ceramic coated. Clay bar, 2 step paint correction, wax, then ceramic coat $600. price also included rims and barrels being cleaned and coated. Have seen as high as $1,500. Makes washing your car easier. resistant to swirls but you still need to watch what you use and how you wash it. I also use adams ceramic boost from time to time. i applied adams patriot wax on top of the ceramic coat as well just to make the ceramic last a little longer. ceramic coat should last about 5 years.

It's super easy to apply. You lightly apply it in straight lines up and down then left and right. You wait 5-15 minutes depending on the outside temperature, then gently wipe off the excess. After that leave it alone for 48 hours while it cures and gets that deep glass look.

I paid more than $600 but less than $1500. Was well worth it. One reason I did it was so I wouldn't have to wax it. Not my DD just weekend fun car. parked in garage when not having fun so expect coating will last on mine.
The car is at the retailers house right now being done, I stoped by there yesterday and couldn't believe the depth of the work he is doing,, even removed all the badges. Paint correction, it's going to be about $650-$750
But worth it to me. I'll post photos after the job is done.
