Default Coverable Question

Do you drive your coverable when you have to have the top up? Seems weird but if I have to have the top up I find myself taking one of the other cars. Is this just me or anyone else like that?

Well.....my first two Vettes were verts...I loved the ability to lower that top and just "drive" in the open air...that said, am finding that ( dependning upon where you live ) today's traffic , interstates, and all of that have made the "open car" thing less enjoyable to me....it got to the point with my 2nd vette that I seldom DID put that top down, so, my current GS is a coupe and every now and then under the right circumstance I will go through the process of removing the targa top. Enjoy it when you can.....

I drive the C5 vert M6 top down on convertible weather days and the C6 Auto coupe on the other days.

I don't (can't) drive it with the top down. Skin cancer on top of my head. But I drop the top at shows and cruise ins or drive it at night with it down.

I drive with the top down whenever I can, but not being able to isn't going to keep me from driving my car. It's still a Corvette whether the top is up or down, and is just as enjoyable either way.

My WRX does winter daily driver duty and just gets driven occasionally in the summer. The 'Vette does rain or shine, spring/summer/fall DD duty and hibernates from late November to early March.

I agree with Corvette Ed. I try to put the top down as much as possible, but if it's rainy or cold I don't leave it home. I still like to enjoy the 'Vette with the top up when the weather doesn't play along.

Where I live, we literally have 40 degree temperature changes from morning to afternoon. Especially in spring and fall.

Today was the first day I drove to work with jacket on and the top down at a balmy 59 degrees this morning (it's been in the mid 40s in the morning). It will be in the 80s this afternoon. Usually I drive in with the top and windows up and put the top down for my lunch run and on the way home. Friday it's supposed to rain but I'll still drive the 'Vette with the top up and put it down between showers.

They call it coverable for a reason right?

I love top down driving but I don't hesitate to drive it with the top up either.

I drive top down as often as I can. The car is for enjoyment, not utility and that is what my truck is for. Top up or down does not really matter to me as I like the convertible body lines better than the coupe. The fast back hatch and targa top on the coupe are OK but seem dated to me and better left to the C4 era. That said I never took the targa top off my C4 nor would I on a C6 or C7 because I think it looks better that way.

I drive it when ever I have a chance, top up, top down, rain or shine...
Just not as much as I should or would like too.
It is just much more enjoyable than my other rides

For me it depends on weather, raining or cold top up. Warm top down. Windows ALWAYS down when top is down. One thing I have noticed that the fresh air in rural farming country. Is not always pleasant smelling.

I've always like the lines of convertible better since the C3.

With the top up, the C5 and C6 'vert kind of look like a C5 FRC.

I don't drive my Vette in bad weather, so the top is almost always down.

Yep.....mine is down 98% of the time it's driven. Only time it's driven with the top up is during the winter when I take it out just a few times to put a couple a miles of actual driving on it. Heck my wife wants to put the windows up sometimes and I tell her just as RUX says...."WE didn't get a convertible to drive with the windows up !!!!:....cheers:

Every time I drive it with the top up I feel like I'm being punished. I'm confined, can't see everything I want, NPP's in the open position start to drone, blah, blah, blah. I drive it top down and if weather doesn't permit, I choose another vehicle in the garage.

I went 3 months last summer where the top was never even put up. I just parked it in the garage each night top down and jump in again at the next chance. Heck, I'll even park it out shopping and leave the top down.

I drive it rain or shine. Top down until it starts to rain. Top down with heat on when it's chilly out. Top down with a hat on when it's hot outside. Top up when I don't feel like having the top down. It's the age old adage; It's better to have and not need than to need and not have. I would hate to have a coupe and not be able to drop the top.

Drove plenty of coupes and drove plenty of coupes with the Targa top out...it's not the same. I love the lines of the Vert as well. The coupe looks sweet and sleek but the Vert is..., well..., you know...bad ***!
