2005 differential swap

hey guys i currently have a 2005 corvette and im looking to swap the rear differential soon. ive been trying to find information on how to do the swap. id like to get a 06+ differential. from what little ive found it appears id need to get this extension from zip (http://www.zip-corvette.com/catalog/...category/8288/) is there anything else that would be required to do? trying to not spend a small fortune on this swap so going through rpm is out of the question. is there a diy thread on actually doing the swap as well?

The C5 Z06 3 rib diff would be your best choice if you went that route but any C5 diff would work. The C5 Z06 diff's going for $700 to $800 on fleabay all day long, oh you would also need an adapter from the C5 diff mount to the C6 diff mount. If money is your concern then the C5 Z diff is the best bang for your buck

I converted my 05 diff(after breaking it) to an 06+ from Zip performance... got a stage 3+ with quaife, all internals cryogened and rem polished... it came with the adaptor of course...

was reasonably easy to change out...

I did it probably 3 years ago and think it ended up being around $4k... Being that I choose to have everything upgraded, I probably spent nearly double of what a stock 06 diff swap should cost. I knew I was going to upgrade my power level significantly, so went with the strongest diff they could build...

Those 05' trans to 06'+ rear diff adaptors are supposably getting way harder to find...

Sometimes there are 06/07' z06 t56/rear diff combo stock pullouts listed on the forum for sale in the $2500-3000 range...

Definitely order an ECS trans/diff brace kit for now if your gonna keep pushing the stock 05' diff hard until you come up with a replacement...
