I can not justify getting actual carbon fiber dash panels (probably could not afford them either) so I am looking for alternatives. I have a few graphics friends that can wrap in the 3M 1080CF for me, or I could Hydro Dip them in CF pattern an clear coat or I could just have them painted gloss black. Def. not painting Victory Red.
I am mostly interested in the CF look. I was wondering if any of you have tried the first two or if anyone has opinions between wrap and dip. Or if neither are a good choice from either aesthetics or durability.
I used the hydrocarbon dip on my intake cover, but did it in the Victory Red carbon fiber pattern. It turned out great.
Here's a pic of the end result for comparison:
Wow. I had not even considered for the engine compartment. I thought the heat would just flake it off. Did you clear coat after or is that straight out of the tank?
I have got to stop looking at other folks pictures. Or get a second job

I have my interior done in the hydrocarbon and the intake as well. No problem with either.
If your friends are good at wrapping it can be done, but with all the curves on the center console and dash it can be a real pain. It can be done, and there was a post by a member that did it to his a few years back.
Good luck and lets us know what you end up doing.

Based on your pics I think I am going to have to go with the Hydro
It is part of my interior upgrade project for this winter so I have a few months to think about it. I am also adding steering controls and a front mount camera to go with the back up. Putting in some sound deadening/heat shielding as well. And a few new leather pieces.
I have started gathering parts. 08 Wheel, a few of the pieces I wish to have covered (so I can get them done in advance), some of the wheel control wiring (no clock spring yet).
Mostly have just been googling and researching the crap out of stuff as I only want to do this once.
Good luck. My hydro dipped stuff all bubbled up from the engine heat.
While I would not use it everywhere in the engine compartment, Many application should be okay, unless you live somewhere like AZ or NM. I think it is good up to something like 350F.
How long was it on your car before it started bubbling up and what was it applied to? I ask so that I and others can avoid the same mistake. Did you go back to the folks that applied it and ask the about it?
