I would not pay one dollar more for a Greg Allman, Donald Trump, Jerry Seinfeld, etc car, the car is the car, its former owners are irrelevant
A known collector/expert/celebrity like Seinfeld or Reggie Jackson will add value. These two in particular add to the provenance since they only buy the best and verified cars. Your average rich & famous dude, not so much.
I have been a long time member of this forum and purchased a 2011 ZR1 last year. Dealer told me it belonged to Greg Allman. I do have a copy of the original title verifying this. This is my second ZR1 and love the car. I lost the first in the flood down here in Louisiana.
I was planning on modifying the vehicle, as I purchased it to enjoy and not sit around. I have been bombarded with emails not to modify the vehicle in any way. Basically park it, because it may be worth something some day. I hate to drive a car that may have a special interest or be more desirable to a fan or collector. I have also queried Barrett Jackson and Mecum. Does anyone on here have any thoughts on the matter.
Spoiler
I ran across this today and thought you might like to know that I sold Gregg the 2011 ZR1 and I have numerous photos of the car at delivery with Gregg at his home in Richmond Hill Ga .
Robbie53,
Very nice. I have been scouring the internet for some type of documentation, pictures, etc. other than the Title. Can I get some copies of the pictures?
Thank you,
Victor

anyone emailing you about it ask them to purchase it for fair market value plus the $20k additional Greg value... otherwise, I'd chop that thing up and race the **** out of it.
BINGO! There ya go. The bullet car just sold at auction last weekend for 3.4 million, rust and all!
The difference being the car was actually in a movie, and was made famous because of it. Same thing with the original Eleanor's used in Gone In 60 Seconds. Those sold for 7 figures as well. A famous person owning a car doesn't make the car itself famous.

That car was made famous because of Steve McQueen and the movie just gave it the exposure. If any other actor was in that movie and drove the car totally different story. Six figures and 3.4 million is a big difference. What ever happened to the car from the French Connection? Yea nothing that I can remember and that chase scene was tremendous also but without a "cool cat" driving it.

I'll give you that, but it took both the actor and the movie to make it as famous as it is. Without the movie it would have just been another car owned by a famous person.
I've been to several auction and comparing a Steve McQueen car to just about anyone else is Ferrari's to Chevys. McQueen cars are pretty much the gold standard.
Car's associated with certain car people like Burt Reynolds or Linda Vaughn can bring a premium.
A car associated with Greg Allman not so much. It might get a small bump or sell a little quicker, or it might not. It's certainly not anything I'd bank on.

YMMV
Who's Linda Vaughn? Never heard of her until this post. ( I Googled her...not impressed) The Burt Reynolds Trans Am I can see being worth a ton, but anything else owned by him?......yawn....

The purpose of my original post from two and half years ago was to see if there was any interest from someone to preserve the vehicle as a collectable before I continued to drive it. There wasn't any interest and potential values from Mecum or Barrett Jackson weren't worth much more than current value. I continue to drive and enjoy the vehicle. It would be nice to see some pictures of Gregg with the vehicle.

I still think it has a cool factor! A car with a fun story. If I Remember correctly, my car was previously owned by John Smith.
People that have owned things associated with their profession might bring a premium. Now should you have a Hammond B3 organ that Gregg might have owned or used at one time now were talking, but a car, just a nice conversation piece.

Hey, don't shoot the messenger... I don't make the rules, just stating what I witnessed. I've watched a couple of her cars cross the block and they always brought a premium. It might have helped that she was there to pimp the cars and they were all Hurst cars and she was the face of Hurst shifters forever.
Personally I'd never pay more for a celebrities car, but that's just me...
I know it is an old thread, but if you haven't taken the car to a track, rolled down the windows, put Jessica on in the CD player, drove the crap out of that car, and left the track in the evening for a cruise playing Midnight rider I would be disappointed.
