The day after buying my 2008, last October, the compass froze on North. Tried everything to no avail. 2 months later I installed my V1 with Blend mount and mirrortap. Compass started working again.

Sounds like a H/W problem inside the mirror, possibly a crack in one of the PCB leads. It's been known to happen.

I assume that you have checked that the electrical connection at the mirror is tight?
