I have a 2011 Grand Sport and recently, the clutch travel became very short (like 1/4 to 1/3 of its original travel). The clutch still engages, albeit the catch point is like an on/off switch now, but nothing is grinding, slipping, or burning. I can't pull the clutch back up, and it is very close to the floor. The clutch is heavy now, and it wants to come off the floor (so it has gained pressure rather than lost it). This occurred about two days ago, since I figured maybe the problem would go away on its own due to heat.
This issue was present when I bought it (although I didn't know it was an issue at the time). I stalled the car and the clutch went to its normal travel and operation. I let it be, since it was working as intended. Now, since it has reverted back, I'm concerned. Today, it won't go into gear and I need to take it somewhere for service. I was wondering if anyone else has had something like this?
I've seen the special coverage recall on the master cylinder, but my VIN is not in GM's system, and I'm not too keen on bringing it to a dealer for non-recall work.
Try using the Ranger method to swap out the clutch fluid until it's clear. Just do a search and you should find it. Other than this, the clutch recall isn't a formal recall, but it is done at the dealer's cost and not yours. In this repair they just replace your master cylinder with the one used on the ZR1. I'll be taking mine in sometime in the next couple of weeks to have this done myself.

Thanks. I'm bringing it in for the swap today at 1. Don't know why it won't go into just reverse (just reverse), but I'll have them look at it.
From what I understand Corvette Ed, they wont replace the master cylinder unless the problem with it is apparent, meaning the clutch wont come back up from the floor and will not shift. Just telling them you want it changed out because it might happen wont work.
As for A7xcarter, it might be the clutch master cylinder, or something else. There is also a clutch slave cylinder in the transmission that they say is a real pain to replace that might be causing the problem. Good luck and let us know what happens.

I just had to tell them the clutch stuck to the floor and they agreed to fix it. I'm just waiting for an opening in their service schedule.

Corvette_Ed is correct. It took ~8 flushes (12 before it was clean and stayed that way for at least a month) . That with a C5 spring and the horrendous on/off clutch travel was gone. Is is easy to do your self with minimal cost.

The dealership confirmed it's the master cylinder. So, hopefully no more problems with the clutch.
I just had my clutch master cylinder changed this week under the TSO. My pedal would occasionally stick to the floor. I change my clutch fluid with every oil change. When I went to pick up the car I experienced the same symptoms you described with the new master cylinder. It occurred one more time at the first start of the day but I was able to bring the pedal back up. Just checked and the pedal was at the top.
