Default Let's be honest about the C6 seats

Straight to the point. I hate the seats in the 427.
I started looking around and I can't seem to find anything that fits the bill.

I looked at all the usual suspects like the recaro, Corbeau, sparco, Caravaggio ($5,000+)...etc

Either too boy racer, too expensive or too aggressive. I'm looking for something that still looks somewhat stock. But adds a little bit of zaza, some added support and nicer leather to the interior.

Maybe I'm asking for a lot. Or maybe I'm being picky. but does anyone have pics of their aftermarket seats or can suggest anything.

My last option if all else fails, is to order a set of C7 comp seats.

Thanks all

Probably unique to the 427. Never had a problem with the seats in any of the 5 C6s I owned.

Yes and yes.

What about Recaro Sports? And then have them reupholstered in whatever material you like. If those are too "boy racer" there is the Specialist model too.

I've done many 350+ mile days in my '11 GS with stock seats. I was perfectly comfortable.

See, I didn't know I could do that. So That just opened the door to more options.

'12-'13 had different seats. I made a 4000 mile round trip to Cali and back after rebuilding my seats, and was extremely comfortable, even with the Z51 suspension.

Same here - I drive over 700 miles each way a couple times a year, and feel great. Daily driver the rest of the year, vette is my only vehicle, with the stock 2011 seats.

I do a lot of spirited driving, and if you clinch them down like they teach you in Ron Fellows driving school, they work well for track days too

BUT, I'm sure money will buy better seats, just like everything else.

Not sure if my stock Z06 has different seats than yours, but I have traveled 300 miles and was not even stiff when I got out, very comfortable. I am 6'0" and weigh 250.

I stripped the seats down to the bare frames, wrapped the bolsters so they wouldn't cut the new seat skins I'd ordered from Interior Innovations, and used the seat rebuild kit from JW Motoring to protect the seat base foam from being cut by the wire support. This kit also comes with additional foam that goes into the frame to add extra support to the seat base. Then I put new seat base foam on both seats, and new back foam on the driver's seat and installed the new skins. The seats are better now than they were than when they were brand new. Total out of pocket cost was about $850. $650 for the new skins, which also came with shifter/e-brake boots and center console cover, and the rest on the new foam and rebuild kits.

Can you explain what you mean by "clinch them down"? Do you mean the seatbelt?

LOL....good luck with this one. Lots of bias when it comes to our beloved Corvettes. And the quality of the interiors (or lack of) is one of those areas of high bias. I agree with you, the seats, along with just about every other thing in the interior (quality of materials and workmanship) is not up to par to be sure. I've taken trips in mine also. And while I won't say that the seats are terribly uncomfortable, i'm not about to say that they were comfortable by any stretch. They are average at best. The seats break down way to fast, but like you, trying to find a reasonable alternative can be difficult.....good luck and let us know what you come up with.

Not sure on your girth, but at 6', 180lbs, I find the seats very comfortable. I like the seats with the adjustable seat bolsters, and I tighten them in when hitting the twisties, and that is very acceptable as a racing type seat IMO.

I'm not a fan of the C6Z seats. Pillowy and hot. I bought a set of Corbeau A4 seats in black and suede, but when they arrived, I sat in the driver seat, and it was too narrow at the shoulders, so I sold them.

I'd love to find a way to install my 2014 CTS-V Sport seats, or a set of CTS-V seats in the car. Thinking maybe Caravaggio...

Yes, slide your seat back, tighten up the seatbelt, then slide it forward to your driving position.

My 2012 seats are night and day better than my previous, older C6's. There is a seat rebuild kit from this vendor, http://www.jwmotorsportsllc.com/C5-a...-Kit_p_32.html
I put a kit in my 2008 Z06 and both the wife and I found the difference to be amazingly better. Well worth the time and money to do.

Check out the 2012 seat upgrade kit from leatherseats.com. It includes better quality seat covers, denser foam and the revised 2012 seat design.

That's probably one of the better options for what you're seeking - stock appearance, but with improved materials and more support. Cost for the kit is about $2K. You provide the labor.

Let us know though if you go the C7 seat route and are successful in installing them in your C6.
