dont have a c6 base coupe vette but seems eveyone has extra tires/rims with their cars for sale. Could you fit 2 or 4 tires inside the car to travel with? Thinking 2 stacked on the passenger seat and 2 in the rear? Wondering if I could transport them instead of ship them if I buy a car where tires and rims come with it. Anyone have any experience with this or could give it a test run with some wheels laying around?

If its a coupe might fit two under the hatch. The other two just duct tape to the roof.

your obviously going to have to be dropped off by someone to pick up the car so take a friend with a van or truck and don't bother ruining the vette by squeezing another set of tires in it just my advice! good luck

going to be flying there as it's over a 12 hour drive away. Will be driving the car back. Thank you!
I've done it several times taking tires to the track. Put towels over the passenger seat and dash and stand up the pair of front wheels. Move the seat forward to hold them in place and tie them to each other. The rear tires will easily fit in the hatch with one toward the passenger seat and the other at the left rear. You'll only lose visibility out the right window.
thats what i like to hear. Glad to know it's possible. Will shoot some pictures up with what I can come up with in a few days!
If possible, deflate the tires before you put them in the car. You'll find every inch you can squeeze is very valuable.
I highly recommend putting down a drop cloth or two to protect the rear carpet. I also draped one over the top. Use a third drop cloth around the tire on the passenger seat to protect the seat and the door panel.
You'll want to load the tire in the passenger seat first, and then move the seat as far forward as possible. If you tilt the front of the seat up it helps keep the tire in place. Once you load the tires in the rear, recline the passenger seat as much as possible to better hold that one in place.
4 Tires (at least for a widebody) will NOT fit. hatch needs to be cracked open partially.
4 Wheels would probably fit.
Mine fit. Did it several times. Gotta deflate them. Granted it wasn't pretty but they fit. 1 rear in the passenger seat, 1 rear and 2 fronts under the hatch.

Yup, 4 wheels without tires= piece of cake. With tires, never tried, so I don't know.
thanks for all the responses, weird question but figured someone besides me has had to have done this. Going to pick the car up Friday and will shoot some pictures up of what o figure out! 2 in the passenger and 2 in the hatch sound like a winning combo though.
Why not rent a vehicle to pick up the tire/wheels?
When I did it, it really was unnerving not being able to see to the right. I could not even see the mirror or A pillar. I only had to go about 20 miles with a right turn from the tire store (good visibility), a left turn with arrow, I immediately got in the right lane and stayed there, another right turn, and then a couple of lefts into the installing shop.
