Hi,searched all over, can't find any info ☹️What is this attached to windshield? It is hard wired.
Also, any ideas to remove spots/film ( looks like maybe protectant overspray)from rear view mirror?
Tried glass cleaner no luck.
I have some sort of dried solvent on my BMW's windshield which i bought used. When the sun hits at the right angle it appears as though someone dripped some liquid at the top of the windshield and let it run down unevenly. I have tried isopropyl alcohol, acetone, paint thinner and the usual commercial window cleaning products to little avail. I am thinking about using fine steel wool in some inconspicuous place on the windshield (if there is such a place) to see if that might work and at least not make the situation worse.

00 steel wool will work fine on mirrors and glass, no scratching. Just be sure it is 00. Also works equally well on chrome, do not use on paint or plastic as it will scratch. Try it, you'll like it.

The best glass cleaner I have found is the "ultimate Cloth" from Southern Car Parts. It uses no chemicals just water.

Do NOT, I repeat, do NOT use 00 steel wool on your windows or glass. 0000 might be okay but I am not a fan. Try a Mr. Clean magic eraser on the overspray on your rear view mirror.

If you use steel wool at all, it should be 0000. That's the finest grade. Even that might scratch the glass if you get too aggressive.
