Bringing your aging C6 back to NEW
My 09 C6 has 67k miles and it is showing the normal wear and tear items...
I am starting to replace the little things that make a C6 feel likes it's actual age...
I'm curious if anyone has other items they have replaced and would like to share them...
I have a radical set up that obviously isn't going to allow me to return to a stock showroom floor piece but its the little things that I can do to help in general....
I have replaced the following...
Shifter Box Bushings
Shifter Boot Close Out- mine was slit
End Links- Front and Rear
With the Z51 Package and the stiffer ride- OEM shocks are just fine and I cannot see that replacing them would help much.
But as a Guide to others- Can Anyone Share Their Experiences??
09 C6 Z51 MN6
BTR-4 Cam
1 7/8 Long Tubes
NPP
CAI
E54
500/465
Thanks Gang!!

For normal wear and tear items I've done the following recently to my 2006 base coupe with 87K.
New door actuators. Cheap and doors pop open so much better.
Added LG Long Tube headers
New battery
New alternator (no choice on that one)
Added Vararam Intake.
New wires and plugs when headers installed.
Keep doing Clutch fluid replacement using Ranger method.
Added MGW Short throw shifter.
Changed interior lighting to blue LEDS
Added GM Mudflaps
This fall:
New headlight lenses
New Tires
Upgrading suspension with new Coil overs, bushings and larger sway bars
Upgrading Radar detector from four year old battery powered Passport, to a wired escort
Springtime:
Repaint Hood
And probably some other stuff not yet planned for.

- Removed and cleaned door actuators; wrapped door handles in vinyl 3D CF.
- Replaced hood and trunk struts
- Painted center console to match body color (to cover up some miner scratches).
- Covered front & rear fading Corvette emblems with vinyl 3d carbon in lays
- Detail it inside and out regularly; ensure all periodic servicing is done as scheduled.

You can get a product called Aluminum Brightener from Napa Auto Parts to restore the aluminum suspension parts to new appearance. Be careful with this, though, as it is acidic. You will need to cover your springs well before using it because it can damage them.

Inspect sway bar bushings...especially the rear for hardness and oval wear.
Flush power steering fluid.
Hood and truck struts inspection and clean door and trunk opening pads as mentioned above posts.
Have fun.
Good luck.

I recently applied a bottle of "NUFINNISH" to my paint... It's a once a year polish that really brought back the shine to my Blade Silver... I was shocked!!
My car was a while new color!!!
it's not a wax but a color restorer...
$10 Highly Reccomend!!!
So far:
- Fix the Hud (usual problem)
- DiNoc (CF lookalike ) the center console
- Black halo (also wrap)
- Black Top ( for the really hot days) black wrap on inside
- (new) Transparent top
- Corsa Exhaust and X pipe.
- Magic Eraser and then Aerospace 303 the entire interior (IMHO an awesome look)
- LED Lights for the interior
- LED SwitchBacks for the turn signals
- Ranger method the clutch every couple of months
- C5 clutch spring & Venom mod
- 1-4 skip shift eliminator
- MGW shifter

Apply a coat and rub it in really firm .... let dry and wipe off... No buffer needed!

Once in a while I will shine up with Mothers Quick Detailer
I have the belt chirp and have been gathering up what I need for a balancer swap. Also got good deals on a new water pump, belt idlers and tensioner pulleys so will do those when I am in there.
Being from Houston I was waiting for a cooler month until my PS pressure hose developed a pinhole leak last week. Guess it is getting time to jack it up and get started.
I suspect my next big one will be when it gets the fuel smell problem other have been blessed with. My right tank sending unit doesn't work but did an easy fix for that years ago. Will replace those when I am in there. But A6 requires trans drop from what I read on here.
Easy fixes so far are a hub bearing, rear axle shaft and alternator.
Sway bar end links and bushings
Hub bearings
Brake system
Shocks
Fluids
Plugs and wires.
As for looks I love Griots garage spray wax used as a detail spray. Leaves the paint slick and shiny.
Here is my car at 178,000.
Now at 189,000.
Had oil pressure sensor and light sensor go bad in the last 5,000 miles.
