Default Two Recent Issues

So two things have come up in about the past week. The first thing is that one of my tail lights is out. It's the one on the left inside. What's confusing me is that the brake light still works fine, just no tail light. Most of the threads I've seen either have all tail lights not working, or one whole side. I haven't had time to look at it because I've been so busy with work, so I'm just curious of what it could be before I check into it. My main issue is that my car suddenly started squeaking a ridiculous amount when going over any slight bump in the road. It started out kinda quiet, now I hear it over every imperfection in the road. Sounds like metal on metal to me, I know it's coming from the rear passenger area but I can't pinpoint it. I'm guessing something needs to be greased? Car is lowered if that makes a difference. I was ignoring it at first by just turning up the radio but I'll be driving it 5 hours one way to Tennessee this weekend with my old hag and drowning it out that way isn't an option. Thanks in advance guys.

It sounds to me like you have one of the fillaments has burned out in your tail light. As for the squeak,it is one you will just have to trace out. Get under it and , shake, rattle, and wiggle things. close attn. to the shocks, top and bottom and all things close.

What "fred D" said .... You have a bad tail light bulb

Pull the light assembly out (1 torx screw holds the light assembly in) and replace the bulb.

5 minute job

Tail lights don't get brighter because somehow more voltage is applied. There are two filaments. There is a bright tail light filament and a very bright brake light filament. One has failed.

And fred gave the only answer for the squeak. There is no common solution except to start looking and banging and pushing.

Car has been lowered look at outer spring ends, Make sure bolts and rubber cushions still intact. I would look at front and rear sway bar end links while you are at it.

Luck

Thanks fellas. Figured the brake light would be simple enough but didn't know if I should expect anything different so I threw it in the question just to be sure. I should hopefully be able to check that squeaking this afternoon and see what I can find.

Default Not what I expected

Well the brake light is replaced, easy as anything. But now I've got a new issue and sort of a solution to a previous one? When I started to jack the rear of the car up to check for the noise, my driver side shock started leaking oil. The car has had horrible ride quality compared to my previous 07 since the beginning, I assumed it was because of the larger wheels. Now I've got my answer, it just needs shocks. Gonna use this opportunity to upgrade them and do it right. So unfortunately I won't be driving my car through the mountains tomorrow, which was probably the most fun I had in my 07 making the trip last year. Huge bummer but I'm glad I found the issue. Guess I'll see if the squeaking continues once the new shocks are on. Until then, the car will be parked. Anyone have suggestions for an upgrade?

That's what I had planned to do, but nowhere had them in stock.

You could go with Z06 shocks, or Bilstein Sports. Both would be an upgrade over stock.

Go with the Bilstein sport shocks, the OEM shocks are worthless.
