How do you close the NPP valves when your at wide open throttle?

There is no way to keep the valves closed all the time.

If you get a set of NPP mufflers that doesn't quite fit due to changes in the crossover or whatever, it seems to me like it would be real easy (and cheap) to go to a muffler shop and simply have them cut off the old mufflers and weld the new ones onto the existing pipes. This isn't rocket science.

I've seen NPP mufflers go for as little as $300. Seems to me like this would be a much more economical solution.

I was wondering if the hardware for NPP is available in kit form and be installed on an existing car.

If so, is it a bolt on? How much wiring or vacuum line installation is required?

Thanks for any help in advance.
I have a set I can sell you if you're interested. Muffler and NPP.

OP, search electric cutouts. I can be quiet as a church mouse or race car loud.

With the unaltered OEM NPP option you can't. With any of the controllers for your NPP option car, and you could make your own for <$10, you can open or close valves yourself and they'll stay that way until you make the choice to change it. There is no 3000 RPM override.

That's exactly the price I paid for Z06 mufflers that were already cut off the pipes. Because I didn't have a lift at my business (OK I had a forklift ) I took it to a muffler shop and they cut off my base mufflers and welded in the Z06 ones and re-installed for $100.

The first NPP in a box was the early design that incorporated a vacuum pump. I installed it in about 20 minutes. Sometime later it failed and the company sent me their newer style replacement (no charge), which took over an hour to install, mostly because of the route I took for the tubing.

Current list price for just the mufflers (includes the axle pipe) is $2240 plus tax. About $1500 from an online dealer plus shipping. NPP in a box not included. So yeah, I could see someone charging $2K installed, but only if it was brand new stuff.

Thank you. I appreciate that..... I'm particularly sensitive as a VENDOR, SHOP OWNER, REGISTERED REPAIR FACILITY, etc....

when people start with comments like..... "He's a rip off! I could done that myself for FREE....."

That has no bearing on what a registered insured shop charges....

Fact is, you can pay top dollar for parts or you can get them for free....

And just because someone has a lift in their garage at home and does their own work, does not mean I'm a rip off or whatever....

Everyone here (including myself) has made comments on this forum that, while not intended to be derogatory....

Could have accidentally stepped on someone else's toes here or there by what you post.

Again, as a paid vendor, shop owner, liability insurance policy holder, bla bla bla.... I don't like seeing

posts that imply that my pricing is out of line...

I appreciate your feedback.

The Z06/ZR1 is 3" at the connections from mid-pipe to muffler.
Oh. Okay.

So I just can't add the valves onto my existing non-NPP mufflers? I need to get an additional set of mufflers that are made for the NPP option?

If I find a set used, shouldn't the valves already be attached to the mufflers> Or, am I not understanding the configuration?

That is correct you can't add the valves and actuators to a non existing NPP muffler. You need the NPP/Bi Mode mufflers. What year and model is your car and is it an auto or manual?

An yes the valve will be inside the tailpipe and you will see the actuator above the tail pipe. One valve and actuator per tailpipe. If you have any questions you can PM and I'll try to point you in the right direction.

if you buy NPP mufflers the valves will be part of the muffler , what is being explained above is the many configurations that NPP or BI mode mufflers come in

There were two different angles on the 2 1/2 NPPS and then you have the 3 inch BI Mode ZO6 type

Save yourself a lot of trouble and try and purchase a set that fits your car using the parameters above. you can make any set fit but save yourself a lot of trouble and buy the correct mufflers and they will bolt right up

Dave

Because a used NPP muffler axle back is like $400 and a new Borla or Corsa is like 1400$. Or $800ish used.

Chuck because it would be cheaper than buying an aftermarket axleback and have some sound to it. But Chuck is correct the valves would stay open all the time. But if you wanted it to get quite then you would need to install the NPP in a box.
