I'd go ZR1 all the way.
Good Luck with your choice.

I've driven a C7Z06 and it is an awesome car. For me, personally, as someone who still isn't offended by my C5 Z06's interior 15 years after I bought it new... I just don't need all the gadgets and hi-tech stuff. I have a 2015 SRT Jeep, and I hate the digital dash, even though it can be configured in many ways, and all the other digital stuff on the oversized Infotainment center. Is it cool? Yes, these new vehicles have a lot more they can do for the driver. Do I want in in a toy that I will drive a couple of times a week? No. I personally do not. Heated seats is more than I need for my sports cars.
As far as looks go, the C7 front and profile have grown on me, and I really like it. The rear... I cannot stand. If they would make that black part body-color, i would like it more. But overall, I just strongly prefer the C6 widebody, which most closely resembles the C3...another big favorite of mine.
At the track, both cars will be extremely capable, and can be modified to make stupid power. I think that aspect of it is a tie.
Lastly, I only wanted a manual trans car (sold a highly modded A6 GS that was faster than a stock ZR1 and C7Z06 in a straight line), so that kept the ZR1 squarely in play.
Is the C7 a "better" overall car? Yeah, I think it is. It should be. But for my wants/needs, I prefer the ZR1, so that's what I got.

So I saved my $ and am finally ready to buy, what do you gentlemen think?
C6 ZR1 or C7 Z06
I like the rarity. uniqueness and the look of the ZR1 but the tech on the C7 is hard to ignore, so...
What do you recommend for what reason? and those of you who have owned/driven both please share your thoughts <<<
thanks!

C7 Z06 without a doubt. Total improvement over the C6 in every aspect. Plus the C6 is getting to look a bit dated. With the reveal next week of the NEW ZR1 the C6 will continue to lose value and appeal.

I've been lucky enough to drive both of these vehicles several times. In most cases back to back on the same day. Although the ZR1 is an amazing car it is still a C6. When driving the C7Z06 I truly felt like I was driving a supercar.

From a shear performance standpoint the C6 ZR1 and C7 Z06 are very close. Now if you want the more modern interior and electronic amenities over the rarity of the ZR1, then C7 is the way to go.

I dont like the way I fit in the c7. It just feels a little more cramped. Way better interior but just smaller. The newer cars don't have that same feeling with all of the sound deadening and softer feedbacks.
I came from a new mustang with all the bells and whistles, I don't miss any of them. I find myself just enoying the ride back and forth to work in my zr1. It also helps that most people that try me get their doors blown off. Even stock for stock I have pulled on a couple of zo6's on the hwy.
Both are great and you can't go wrong.

I haven't driven either one..... but I love the 'top off' experience with my GS in warm weather. That's a must for me, - so C7 Z06 would be my choice.

Sorry, but the C7 is ugly as sin.
Regardless of the production variant, the rear end of the C7 is simply horrid.

As someone who owns a C6 I would absolutely get the C7 Z06. Obviously when you ask a bunch of C6 owners they are going to say that the C6 is much better and that the C7 is ugly.
Looks are subjective. I personally love the looks of the C7. The question is, which one do you like better?
I would also rather have the new(er) car for obvious reasons.
The C6 is already starting to look dated and the interior is a complete joke compared to the C7.
Just my opinion.

I don't really think that's true, as I said before the looks of the C7 is a frequent topic in the off-topic forum and there's a lot of dislike for the design in general and the rear end in particular.

That could very well be true but my point is that looks are subjective and lets be honest, most people in OT do not own a C7. The question is does the potential purchaser like the looks of it. I know I do. Not to mention, when it comes to the interior there's no completion at all.

Indeed, I agree 100%.
The curves and flow of the C6 design create a very pleasing aesthetic, regardless of the vantage point from which it is viewed...and that pleasing aesthetic is simply not there in the C7.
2014 was the first year for the C7, and the C8 will be out in the fall of 2018. A relatively short production run for the C7.
So TorchSport, here's what's really comical...
In the fall of 2018, not only will the C7 just look ugly...it'll look ugly and dated.
