Most miles per tank of fuel

Drifting
Last week on the way home from Vet's n Vette's at the museum, I got 346 miles out of a tank (the DIC read 51 miles of fuel left when I refueled). Average speed was 78 MPH. 2013 GS convertible, MN6, 3.42's. I didn't check to see how much I put back in to determine the MPG's because I really don't care. I just fill the tank so I can drive some more.

Who cares about the most? Much more interesting to see how fast you can empty it.

Not exactly how many miles I got, but it's how many the computer expects would happen on the next tank full. Obviously, prior to the fill up it had averaged at least 31+ mpg.

I've burned up 2 fuel pumps on various cars by driving to empty regularly. I have an 830 mile trip I make regularly and I can make it on one stop if I push it but then after a few years I have to replace the fuel pump because I overheated it by not having enough fuel to keep it cool.
I keep a record and reset gauges every fill-up. Current record seems to be 451.2 miles at an average speed of 73.0 and 29.8 mpg. My typical highway range is more like 390 which I feel comfortable doing because there will still be more than 2 gallons of "coolant" in the left tank with the pump.
Now today the gauge reads 10.2 mpg because I've been a naughty boy around town.

If that's all you're averaging on a highway trip (more or less steady speeds of 60-70 MPH as Smiley said) in a stock LS2 or LS3, then there is something wrong with your car.
But if you're hitting low speed limits, stop signs, traffic lights, making short trips, etc. then it is not a "highway trip." Huge difference.
I make a lot of 5 mile trips to the local diner, then back home. Some trips might be 50 miles 'round. My tank average is always right around 20-21 MPG. Normal.
A couple of years ago I filled it up, reset the meter, and went about 40 miles, half of it country driving, the second half on an interstate, and I was averaging 28+ MPG for that distance. Once I got off the interstate and into suburbia the average went to hell, as expected.

I wouldn't know. I value my fuel pump too much to run the tank down to empty.
