Clutch Issues
Hey everyone, I am having a clutch issue that just happened yesterday. I was in a parking lot and when I went to engage the clutch it just suddenly hit the floor. The car will not engage in any gear and the clutch pedal will either completely depress to the floor or completely disengage to the normal upright position, but no resistance in between. The car will only start when the clutch is engaged to the floor. I checked the fluid level and it seems fine with no visible leaks. This is a base model 2010 C6 with 35,000 miles on it, so it seems a bit early for the clutch to be shot. Any ideas are very welcome, thanks.

Clutch Master Cylinder has gone bad. The TSB14717 is the fix for this. There are some time and mileage limits on it, but I think yours would still be under the limit. I had mine towed to a dealership. They ended up paying for the tow bill, and the repair under the TSB. Hope all works well with yours...

This happened to me but honestly, I wouldn't put another GM clutch master cylinder in, I would just get a Tick performance one so that you never have to worry about this again. You will need the short line version since you are not dropping the trans.

^This is a “special policy” for affected years. I don’t have the paperwork in front of me but I think it’s for 10 years or 100k from original delivery date.

It was my understanding that the only reason they are covering the repairs under special policy is due to the fact that its a major safety issue. The car could be potentially started in gear.
You could confirm this being the issue by pulling the pedal up, disconnecting the quick connect to the slave and then depressing the pedal after you pull it up. If it still goes to the floor the MC has failed. I wouldn't waste my time. Just have it towed in and have them fix it. I wouldn't count on them covering the tow. That seems to me like special treatment but I could be wrong.

Well heck fire.....thats pretty observant and i'll give you the fact that it's spose to move, in a circular motion anyway. It just ain't spose to wave at you like a car wash gorilla while it's rotating.......

I had mine replaced just a few months ago. Once they verified my car did have the problem, it didn't cost me a dime as it's under the year and mileage limit. They replaced the clutch master cylinder with the one used in the ZR1, flushed the clutch fluid, and even came to pick me up so I could drive the car home.

Yes, I think he'll be back. It's only been five biz days since he posted up and he's 29. I figure he's got work in between plus "convincing" the dealer it's one of the special ones with a clutch issue. Maybe next week we'll hear some more.
