Thanks to forum member, Roger 07, I was able to replace my shift cable on my C6 07 with all the PITA warnings that he provided in his write-up. I’m not sure where I screwed up on the installation but the transmission is not recognizing ‘Park’ position. My car wouldn’t start until I put a scan on it and it showed that my PNP (Park/Neutral Position) was ‘in gear’ while my shift indicator showed ‘P’. So, with my shifter, I shifted it to ‘R’ and the PNP showed ‘Park/Neutral’ and the car started. Also, ‘Reverse’ gear on the shift indicator is between the ‘P’ and ‘R’. So, with that being said, ‘Drive’ is ‘N’ on the shifter; ‘Sport’ is ‘D’ on the shifter; and i’m not sure what ‘S’ gear is doing at this point. So, the transmission is not going into ‘Park’ gear. My question is, is it possible that the shift cable is restricted somewhat and is not being allowed to move freely to shift properly? If you read Roger 07 write-up, you’re know why I’m asking (praying) for a recommended simplier fix instead of repeating the PITA steps. I’m okay with ‘it is what it is’ responses😜
I believe that you can lenghten or shorten the cable at the transmission end to get the gears in the correct configuration. It sounds like you have to lenghten the cable at the cable lenght adjuster a bit to get it right.
Here is a pic of the adjuster.

Just had mine replaced by the dealer as a preventative measure to avoid a failure. (Had the cable on my 2000 cag out in the middle of the street). The car is a 2006 and time had taken its toll on the forward bushing. Corvette tech at my dealership said it was badly deteriorated due to the heat sink due to encapsulated position of the shifter.

I guess my first question would be, when you installed the cable, did you remove the red cover on the transmission end of the cable?
With the red cover off, you can see how the adjuster operates. With the adjustment correct, the tab on the adjuster is pushed in to seat it into the adjuster and keep the cable from moving within the adjuster.
To obtain the correct adjustment, raise the back of the car and support it on stands for safety. Remove the cable end from the transmission. From inside the car place the shifter in the neutral position. From under the car, rotate the lever on the transmission clockwise until it can't be rotated any farther. Rotate it back the opposite direction 2 clicks (or detents). This should put the transmission into the neutral position. Snap the cable back onto the lever, and then push the tab on the adjuster all the way in to seat it.
Hopefully someone can confirm my instructions to make sure I have the directions of the transmission lever correct.

Hope this helps
Yep, this will adjust the lenght of the cable from end to end, to index the shifter with the trans lever correctly.
Yes, I removed the adjuster but not sure if the tab was in or out when I removed it. So, i’m not sure where the clip was originally but will follow the instructions given.

The tab is "out" when the red cover is still on the cable, or even when removed from the cable. It must be pushed in to seat it after installation, and adjustment. Good luck.
JUST had my cable snap today. Fortunately it was on a side street. I called 911 first, to steer traffic around me, rather than hearing, "Hey Dummy, get that xxx off the road". Police were there right away. Easy-peazy. Called AAA, and in 30 minutes we were off to the dealership, Portsmouth Chev., NH. $400 to replace.
2008 - 169,246 miles. Just ran FL Keys to Maine - two 14-hr days. Cruise on 78mph gave continuous 28.8mpg. Smooth and comfy!!

You are supposed to take it off after installation
Correct I plan to remove but the connector spins 360 degrees and not sure if it needs to spin 180 degrees and connect on the other side with the adjustment tap/red cover faces away from trans.
I can tell you if you have any slop in the shifting ,the cable ends are bad. I was replacing my exhaust and adding heat shields to the plate and figured I would go ahead and replace the cable and man I was glad I did because at the transmission the center had been gone for some time.

If I remember correctly I believe the open end of the clip faces the transmission. As previously mentioned take it off the transmission shifter in car in N, lever on transmission 3 clicks from the rear is N Snap back on.
Would anybody have the part number to the shifter cable? I have a 2005 Corvette.
I sent you a PM with the part #, and other info. The one listed just above will not compute.
the cable for the 4 speed A/T for the 2005 is 10352529
The 6 speed A/T cable is 20782446 for 2006-2013
