I'll be looking at a yellow 2008 C6 this afternoon with just 22,500mi. on the clock. It's a 6spd with both tops and the usual accessories. Sight unseen I offered $20K with the caveat of I have to see and drive it before ANY deal is done. My offer was accepted. I have a 2003 C5, but am wondering if the C6 has any quirks I should be on the lookout for. The pics I received show a very clean car except for a scratch on the rear bumper. Hard to tell from pic how deep it is, also he said something is wrong with the hand brake. I'm pretty sure I can talk him down further since I'm offering CASH. Any thoughts?
20K for that year with those miles is a GREAT deal assuming of course that everything is in good working order.
You can search on here and find many things to look for, wobbling harmonic balancer is the biggest that immediately comes to mind. Carfax/accidents? Open recalls?
I have a 2008 c6 z51 m6 with 116k miles, the cars been the most reliable vehicle I've owned in 40 years of driving.
You bought yourself a new c6 for 20 grand.
I d say you did pretty well.
Fwiw..if I open the hood it almost looks like the harmonic balancer is wobbling but my world class GM tech says no..it's normal.
I wouldn't pay to much attention to that internet overblown issue. Sometimes the internet can set percentagewise issues into a new level.
No disrespect intended but just wanted to let you know of the rest of the vehicle meets your expectations don't blow the deal on something like a slight wobble on the belt system...
The c6 I've purchased since new is my third new corvette and I have to say this has been the most worry free vehicle I've ever owned...
For 20 grand your doing well for a 20k mile ls3 corvette as long as the frame wasn't hit etc,,which I'm sure it hasn't...
I'd say the c6 is the best deal in preowned sports cars these days..right after the ridiculously low priced c4 corvettes..
I did a Vin# search, and it came back with no issues, and only one owner. So it seems everything is falling into place. Now, what in the hell do I do with my 2003 that has even less miles than this 2008?

OK....i'm a dummy, so help me with the "both tops" part of the equation....
I would be very thorough in inspecting the car because that is an absolute steal of a price at that mileage for an LS3. Assuming everything checks out, be sure to wear your ski mask when you do the transaction because you're definitely robbing this guy. And I'd be more than happy to give you 10k for that 03 to offset your cost a little

I would not sell my C6 Z51 with 22,000 on the clock for no near $20,000.

Oh yeah, the warning bells are definitely going off. But it won't hurt to check it out. It appears from the Vin# search that it's a one owner car without any red flags. $10K for my 2003 with 21,xxx on the clock? Bwahahahahaha!!!
CHeck under the rockers to make sure nobody jacked it up in the wrong spot and cracked the glass.
Check for oil on pan. Could be a gasket, plug seal or rear main seal.
Check weeping oil on rear axle seals at the diff. (Seal change is easy).
HOpe it works out for ya!

I think it's only fair to let your car go super cheap since you're getting a C6 for such a good price Good luck with the deal and be sure to post some photos of the car if you go through with it

Got any Corvette specialty shops w/in 50 miles of where the car is located? Or, a dealer that sells a lot of new Corvettes? Use either one to go over the car on a lift at your expense. Granted, the miles are low, and it's one owner, but I'd want just a tad more peace of mind. If it's all that you say altho the normal (if there is such a term) cost might be $250, I'd bet it'd take half the time for someone who has seen these cars a lot (like a dozen a week for 10 model years!) and that is very, very cheap insurance.
I've done it before w. a Corvette w. 6K miles on it and was quoted $150. Not one but two techs came over to look at it because the first one called his friend over to see a "new" Corvette (9 years old at the time) and they "quit" early: total charge to me was $54.
Get it.Its a steal.make sure everythng checks out okay.08 here.As far as the balancer if I was you dont waitfor it to wobble.have it replace with a aftermarket one.thats what I did with a OD 8 rib and went forced induction.Good luck.

Well lo and behold, up jumped the devil. All of a sudden he can't find the title. So I told him it would be a waste of time to drive over to see the car without it. He swears he has it, but I'm a doubting Thomas. So I told him when he finds it, call me. I don't think he's BSing me, but again you never know. So we'll see what happens.
