Default 2008 sun visor question

Hey folks..
I have a 2008 and need to replace my drivers side sun visor.. not just the vanity cover, but the whole visor.. the one in there does not have the garage door opener..

so, can I replace with one that has the opener? is the opener a self contained transmitter that only needs the power provided from the standard visor electrical connector (ie, plug and play), or does the visor control need to connect back to a transmitter located elsewhere in the car..

and if I can replace the visor with one that has the opener, what is the deal with the change they made in the openers right around that time, homelink vs car2u..is one better than the other, and why?

as always, thanks for your help..

Yes, basically PnP.

Most seemed to prefer the Homelink system, easier to use, less picky about connecting. But apparently the Car2U system has better range, don't have to be right in front of the door for it to work.
