Will a stock exhaust for a 2010 fit on a 2005? I see on the aftermarket the systems are broken up 2005-2008 and 2009 up.
What changed in 2009? Are the pipe sizes different? Is the location of the connection different?
I am just looking for some cheap stock mufflers to replace the straight pipes on my 05. I found a set of 2010 mufflers but if they will not fit, I do not want to waste my time.
The over the axle pipe has a different angle to it, as you state 05 -08 are the same and changed after 09 there are a lot of stock exhausts around for sale cheap, i threw my old exhaust away couldn't even give them away at the time check the forum classifieds.
Does anyone know the exact differences? not that I want to, but I have a lift and I can weld stainless.
I can live with the drone till spring but this car will get driven approximately 8K a year and the current straight pipes wont cut it. i have 3 months to look.

C6 of Year Winner (performance mods) 2019
Is the diameter of the pipe the difference? I ask because I installed an Akrapovic Cat back system from a 2012 to a 2008. It was tight but I got it on. FYI the I did have longtubes and xpipe on the 08 already.

The angle of the midpipe and muffler on the passenger side are different vs the later cars.
Just buy a '09 - '11 midpipe (unless you also want the second set of cats that are on the '12-'13 midpipe) and '09-'13 mufflers and be done with it. Bolts right in, you don't have to weld, hack, or do any other shade-tree engineering.

Thanks, might have a line on a whole 2010 system from the manifolds back. the only downside would be price.
unfortunately it was manifolds back to the mufflers but no mufflers
waiting on an Email on 06 mufflers that are ONLY a 3 hour drive away.....
Check the For Sale threads. Usually pretty easy to find or piece together a whole Z06 system.
There are some subtleties to be aware of...
- The '11 & up Z06 mufflers are more desirable than the '06-'10 due to sound
- The '06-'11 main cats will not work with a '12-'13 midpipe (and vice versa) but any year midpipe will work with any year muffler
- Any year exhaust manifold will work with any year main cats
- On automatic equipped cars, the passenger side over-axle pipe can take a little massaging for clearance

Haven't most '08s and '09s been recalled to add the second set of CATs?

Would have to check the notice. Only in CA is it in essence "mandatory" since the CA DMV won't renew your registration without the recall being done. In other states, I think most owners view it as interesting information and toss the notice in the trash.
