Front Camera Location?
Bought a Kenwood head unit that offers both backup and forward camera inputs. Picked up a couple Pyle cameras to use. Primary use for front will be pulling into parking spots to avoid damage to the nose.
Question is this - Has anyone installed a Pyle PLCM38FRV in their C6 front grill? If so, any tips on location/mounting/running wire back to HU? The goal is to make the camera most useable and stable without leaving any visible holes should the need to remove arise.
Thanks in advance!
Front mount, I just used some 3M trim tape. I can confirm that it will hold at triple digit speeds.
Sorry for the crappy pic, but note the red wire in the top left. This is under the hood, passenger side, just in front of the cowl. The GS/6MN/Z06/ZR1 have the dry sump tank here, all others have the battery.
This is the closest pic I could get of where I went into the cabin. There is a large rubber grommet that I used an awl to penetrate followed by safety wire to pull the leads through. It took some time and a lot of patience, but it did work.
I ran the wires on the paseenger side through wire loom and into the cabin just under the brake booster in the engine bay, and just above the deadman pedal in the cabin. I drilled a hole just above the deadman pedal ans used a grommet in that hole to prevent any moisture intrusion.
Here is the camera mounted. It's a differemnt camera than the one that you will buy, but you get the idea.
This is how the pic looks in the monitor based on the position of the parking curb as per the pic (simulated with cardboard box)

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
inexpensive camera from amazon removed attach bracket and machined mount from abs sized to fit hole allowing for 3M automotive attachment tape. I left the front face full size to hide the tape.
