I am in the middle of a new stereo install and just removed the center trim panel and when I went to set it down this part seemed to fall out of it. I can't see anywhere on the underside where it could possibly mount.
It is a molded rubber boot with a copper disk at the bottom. It looks like some kind of a switch sensor.
You know, it's possible that it has been trapped under the console for years. Something a prior owner had that literally fell thru the cracks and may not be anything related to the Vette. That's what I'm goin' with fellas'. Thanks for your replies!
It looks like it could be part of your traction control button. Is it a real soft rubbery kind of piece? I could be wrong but that's my guess.
Fred,
You hit it on the head . Apparently in one of my attempts to disconnect the plug to that TC button I actually broke the switch and that part came tumbling out. I found out upon re-assy. when the button was completely disabled. It wouldn't respond to any pushing. I managed to get it back together and it is working fine (to my surprise and great happiness) although I'm not sure how long it will last. I may end up putting in a complete new switch at sometime in the future.
