Normal for wheel/tire inside to turn to skip, one tire's turning faster than the other dragging one. There's a tech term used to describe this 'effect' but it's slips my mind.

Bottom line it's normal when making tight turns, R or L, to feel this slippage & believe something wrong. Pavements like Asphalt are the worst.

No tires can/will stop this, just physics/geometry.

I never heard of the term crab walk but it sounds like it might be summer tires scrubbing on a cool or cold day. On slow turns the whole car shutters like the old position traction is grabbing. First time it happened to me I thought something really bad was going on. On a warm day like above70 F it doesn’t do it at all.

Wheel hop? IIRC there are a few posts about this on the forum, and typically the suggestions are that you should get the diff fluid changed, and then condition the diff by driving in a few tight circles, (both directions) after the change. This is supposed to minimize the hop.

Scrubbing or scuffing have commonly been used to describe this condition..................... as Landru mentioned a normal condition for the reasons already posted..............

IF issue's w/ rear end 'chatter', you're correct.
Drain, refill w/ proper lub & a few tight figure-8s to work it in eliminates clutch pack chatter.
*IIRC by MY '07 C6s came w/ improved lube, so this only occurs w/ pre-'07 vehicles w/ old lube.
My '06 chattered, got the new lube under warranty & no more chatter.

Was my understanding OP's issue was w/ front tires when from a stop, making a slow turn. Front tires skip until they're straightened out.
This 'skipping' is due solely to the ultra-wide tires C6 uses, even more pronounced w/ Z06/ZR1.

Hoped by now at least one member would've recalled the term, too.

Isn't it called trammelling? Could have sworn I saw that term used here for this.

Trammelling describes rear end 'walking' side-to-side while car's in motion, Ed.
Often wide tires on uneven road surfaces cause it; but, have heard certain brands of tires can contribute.

Really POed I couldn't recall this term since its been discussed many times here, over the years. Tried CF's search function.
Using a reg search engine & after some rooting around, found it!
It's called the Ackermann Effect.

Glad I found it, was driving me nuts, worse than an 'ear-worm'.
