I make a couple 1500 mile trips per year and use a nylon bra. It goes under the splitter. It has scraped but I have not seen any damage.
Just me, but...I'm not sure what protection a nylon bra offers when following a gravel truck. At best it will save the nose and let the upper fenders/hood/windshield take the brunt.
As for clear bras...I would rather on put clear plastic seat covers.
